I have a friend on the force down there and he says they are not looking to enforce it really, it is m,ore of an appeasment for some people down there. Mainly they are focusing on specific area wher it has been complained about.

Basically, it was passed and will not be used much. Most of the town is the sticks, I think it is one of the 2 or 3 biggest cities/towns in the state but not a large population.

If you don't know the local laws, you either risk running a light illegally, or the ire of your fellow motorists for forcing them to wait at a light where you're legally allowed to turn. Do you carry the local driving codes for the entire country everywhere you go? I sure as hell don't.

For most things, local laws are idiotic in a country that doesn't have internal borders. Federal laws make far more sense, both so you actually know what the laws are as you travel inside the country, and so there's a level playing field for everybody.
