Winnipegians can't handle the truth, apparently. |

| Rev.K Winnipeg is Canada's cold sore. It's there, we all know it's there and they know that we know. But we all just play nice, because that's what we do. |

| cretinbob Is it time for the annual treasure hunt in which the winner gets a one-way ticket out of town? |

At least they know where they stand. /And folks lend a hand. |

Well... ![]() But really, why didn't Lowe watch the game on TSN? |
||
| Strongbeerrules
Winnipeg? Just drop the big one on it and start over. Look at how well that worked for Hiroshima. |

I think Winnipeg and Hull are the only cities in the world that doesn't seem to have any defenders on Fark. Heck, even Detroit has advocates. |

Winnipeg might be a hellhole but I find it funny the station he was watching was (apparently) a U.S. based station..... Last time I was in Winnipeg it was -23 and I was stuck at the worst place possible in Winnipeg, a bus terminal. I was on my way to a happy place though, a cottage about 400 KM north of Winnipeg for some ice fishing, so that kept me going. |

Yeah, and they were covering the election that had a 300+ post thread on Fark two days ago, you know, the one that was potentially going to eliminate property taxes in ND. It was kind of a big deal. |

You know, the city that makes Detroit looks good. /Except for the Windsor ballet. The one redeeming quality, I hear. |

The have a nice ballet. Some good bands come from there, too. Plus, their mayor was the victim of the single greatest attack ad ever. |

I spent some time there last year for work. \Nice people...during the day. \\No food options. And don't tell me "They have Boston Pizza." Boston Pizza SUCKS. \\\Stayed in the Delta across from the arena the Jets play in. When I asked the girls if there was anything cool to do or see they said, "You're looking at it." \\They have a Native Gang problem. Who knew? \Slashies |

FTFA: Lowe was likely watching a TV station based across the border in Grand Forks, N.D. I've been to Grand Forks and it is, indeed, a hell hole (or hell-hole, for those hyphenators out there). /wife is going back in August for some gawdawful reason... |

There's an Italian section in the north end of Boston but the city isn't exactly known for its pizza. Beans, creme pie, even clam chowder, sure. Pizza? Not an iconic food for Boston. |

They didn't stop stealing cars, that's just not possible. They did stop to set some back lane garages on fire tho, the snow is gone so it IS fire season. /former Winnipeger //it's only 95% hellhole. |
||
| Flogster They've got great nips . . . I mean the burger, they have a chain of restaurants which call burgers nips. They're delicious. |
||

Best pizza in the North End of Boston if you can find the place, and no I will not give you directions. The line down the block is long enough. |

aphyd: When it comes to shiatholery, Winnipeg's got nothin' on Saskatoon. You know what Saskatoon has that Winnipeg wishes they did? More than 10cm of elevation between the river that runs through it and most of the population there. Oh and the Bombers suck. |

Lowe, a star on the sitcom Parks and Recreation and former star of The West Wing, is in Winnipeg to shoot a made-for-TV movie about the trial of Casey Anthony, a Florida mother who was acquitted last year in the death of her young daughter. Winnipeg is standing in for Florida? Does this mean it will get its own tag on FARK? |

| torradan Spent a week there earlier this year. I couldn't wait to leave. If I ever have to go back there, it'll be too soon. I think the only time I smiled in that city was when I woke up the morning my flight was leaving. |

I grew up there its not bad summers at the lake and winters bumpershining :-) and cars where easy to steal because its so cold peolpe would leave them running at the supermarket |

| LesserEvil Ah... Winnipeg. Spent some time up there in the first part of the 90s on a series of trips for work. Let's see... got into a bar fight, if you call a drunk lunging at me, as I step aside and shove him away into a table a fight. Later helped the guy up after he slipped on the icy sidewalk into the icy roadway. Went to dinner at Red Lobster one night, the next night, the RCMP had a major drug bust in their parking lot (Hell's Angels) - it was a multi-million dollar deal. The other techs on the job thought it would be interesting to talk to the hookers we spotted on some back street... we were baffled how they could stand the sub-zero (F, not C) temperatures in miniskirts, found out they wear 5+ layers of pantyhose. The girls were working their way across the country, too. Saw Warren Beatty waiting at my gate for the same flight out, but didn't bother him. WTF was he doing there? An interesting place for many reasons.... sad and depressing in parts, but unique and fascinating in others. It can be a hellhole, if you don't have a sense of adventure or a pretty thin skin. All that said, I wouldn't want to be stuck there for more than a few weeks, though, and that's considering I like to explore the seamy underbelly of society. |

Oh GOD. I have to move back to Winnipeg this fall - not because I want to, but because my Mom is aging and needs me around to help out in her final years. Of course, knowing my family, that means she's going to be around for another couple of decades. Luckily the women in our family always out-live the men so hopefully I'll die before then. Anything is better than having to spend another twenty years in that scum-filled cesspool. |

Hey now! It's Edmonton that has all the murders. I don't cotton to other Canadian municipalities trying to take that away from us! //Haven't been a lot of human remains found this spring. ///Wasn't too much snow to bury a body in last winter anyway. |

In 2011, Winnipeg was #2 in the violent crime rate, behind Prince George. Edmonton is only #15. |

I was born in Portage La Prairie, we moved 6 months later. Is that considered part of Winnipeg? Would I have street cred in the big city, or be looked at as a country bumpkin from the sticks? Doubt I will ever go back, at an early age I realized cold weather sucks. |

Lived in Winnipeg for 26 years with zero regrets. It's a great town. Haters gonna hate. I wouldn't recommend visiting if you don't know what to do. I would recommend raising a family there though, because your money goes a long way. Whoever said there's a lack of food options is a complete moron, by the way. Winnipeg might have more restaurants than people. |

Winnipeg might have more restaurants than people. not only that, but given the population we have FAR more then our fare share of the "world's best XXXXX" XXXXX being some sort of dish (chicken fingers, hotdogs, clubhouse sandwiches) to name a few |
