Fake. If it was real, I would use words stronger than "frickin' sweet, dude." |

stevegarbowski: If it was real, I would use words stronger than "frickin' sweet, dude." Yeah, good effects and writing, but the acting needs a lot of work. |

| Honest Bender I was wondering when this would make it to fark. Good effects. Shiattastic acting. |
||
| radiovox I'll watch it again and again. It was better than Cats. |

| Uchiha_Cycliste So, for me this was especially cool for one reason for one reason: before I hit play I was asking myself, I wonder what would happen if they lined up a portal on the ceiling and floor so that it was one big drop... then they did it! it was awesome! |

I ran through Portal 2 again a couple weeks ago. For a few days afterward, I found myself noticing every flat white wall I came across. Someone had painted over graffiti on an overpass that looked particularly useful. |

They really did a good job on the effects. I couldn't see any inconsistencies. |

When you get stuck in an infinite drop, do you keep falling faster until you hit terminal velocity? |

Reminds me of this |

I watched the whole video. When do I get the cake that I was promised? |

Wouldn't someone in an infinite loop between two portals move faster than terminal velocity due to the air movement also moving between the portals? Then again, I'm making an assumption that air moves through the portals. The falling body would accelerate the surrounding air to the point where there's almost no air resistance, at which point you keep accelerating. At some point, the human body would come in contact with air that is not moving relative to it, creating friction. Fast moving object vs air resistance: burning up. |

Ok, since nothing is obscure on Fark, I would appreciate some help in locating something. Back when Portal was new I remember a game. I'm a little vague on the details, but here's what I remember. It was Portal, basically, but it was a top down or 3/4 view game. It was for the computer and IIRC it was a free download. It was a puzzle game that required good timing and clever tricks to make it through the rooms. I can't remember if it officially had anything to do with Portal or if it was a fan made thing. |

Vogon Poet: Are you thinking of this? No, that's not it. It was more "advanced" than that. I distinctly remember the opening room, I think, so I'll know it when I see it. I'll try that one out later, though. Thanks. |

There a free pre-release demo of the game. It was like a very stripped down version of the game. It looked the same, mostly, but it was limited in what it did, where you could go, and so on. Could that be it? |

If I'm remembering correctly the "camera" was fixed and I think it was a 3/4 view. It wasn't 3D, but more of a Fallout 1 or 2 style of visuals. I remember that it was quite well done. |

would have been better launching into a lake behind the hell, but everything else was spot on. 10/10 and good use of the intertubes! |

Was it Narbacular Drop? It was the game that Portal was based on, Valve even hired the people that made it to work on Portal. |

Hand Banana: Was it Narbacular Drop? It was the game that Portal was based on, Valve even hired the people that made it to work on Portal. I came across that earlier trying to find this thing. That's not it, unfortunately. I might have a copy of what I'm trying to find it laying on an old harddrive, but I have no idea what the name is, what file type it is, or where it's saved. I have damn near a terabyte of old data laying on a shelf. |

You might be thinking of "The Room" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGiPUx 9Zgi0 Jump to the 3 or 4 minute mark. Not a game per se, but a tech demo that got a lot of people thinking about portals in games. |

so they almost murdered their friend for fun.. but anyway, this is by far the most impressive real-life portal clip I've seen. |

I asked my brother about it and he does vaguely remember what I'm talking about. I know this things exists, but I can't find any record of it. It's not actually important, just a nagging thought of mine. |

Even if air moves through the portals too, there'd still be interaction with the air outside of the column between the portals. So, I think you'd fall a bit faster because of that, but not much. |

Okay guys we'll get Geordi La Forge and Data to pick the winner of the most accurate scientific explanation of an entirely fictional work contest. Just enjoy it ffs. Or maybe the subject doesn't really matter, maybe it's the argument that you enjoy..... |

DeltaPunch: When you get stuck in an infinite drop, do you keep falling faster until you hit terminal velocity? There are probably threshold effects of some kind which might change it, but, yes. |
