As long as Adam Sandler is still alive, you will see dumber comedies.

The critics never appreciate stupid movies. I saw "Grandma's Boy", which I think got like a 10% of Rotten Tomatoes, and thought it was damned funny.

While Jack and Jill was indeed a cinematic abortion, I can see this movie being ok from the trailers, but I'll wait until it's on cable or something.

Jack and Jill's box office take: $149,673,788, on a budget of $79M.

This raises several questions. First, that's (roughly) 2 million tickets sold. Second, and more alarmingly, for a movie with what I assume is little in terms of CGI and a few bucks for the "Jill" makeup, how do you spend $80M? I would suspect that Sandler and his SNL buds decided to party every day in some pricey locations, more or less letting the production company foot the bill for their vacation. I have to admit that these two things combined is pretty intriguing. Ostensibly the movie "broke even", give or take. And the goofballs lived it up for a few weeks on set. The question remains -- have Sandler et al. discovered the perfect movie-making formula such that they know how much to build into a production so that, because they make "enough" money, they can continue putting out more (in other words, keep partying)?

They showed a clip on Letterman last night. The stupid accent Sandler uses in the movie was grating my nerves to hell. And that was just a 30 second clip.

They didn't. There's no way that movie cost $80mill. Studios bullshiat about their reported budgets.

For a group of people mostly found in Sandler movies, they did better than anything Sandler had done just prior to it, and Sandler has done nothing as funny since. That movie has some great characters and lines in it.

Sandler probably takes $25-30 million off the top just to show up (might be as high as 40). Pacino doesn't come cheap either. Katie Holmes probably got a couple million. Figure over 40 million (maybe 50) before you even shoot a frame.

At some point, we are just going to have to come to grips with the fact that Sandler just isn't funny, and never has been. He's a one trick pony with a pretty boring trick. His very best stuff isn't funny at all (Punch Drunk Love) and the movies that were funny were funny primarily because of other actors (Happy Gilmore and Bob Barker, for example.)

The guy just kind of sucks.

I'd just like to say that I liked the fight scenes of Sucker Punch (which was, fortunately a majority of the movie). If that was all it was, it'd be 3 stars easy.

I never understood why his Opera Man skits were on SNL so many times. Somehow, unfunny television led to an unfunny movie career.

I would think a shot of a hot chick in her skivvies would be the definition of cut-n-paste shiat.
