They are so rare, it would not surprise me. I think the only great cat species with a smaller population than Snow Leopards are the Amur Leopards.

The CAPTIVE population? Hell, the WILD population makes W. Virginia look like a bastion of genetic diversity! So yes, inbreeding is a major issue for these poor cats.

It could also have something to do with the synthetics introduced to their diets in captivity? I don't know that they would be exposed to as much pesticides and hormones in their food in the wild.

I usually get an add for something that I just bought online like shoes when I'm on my home computer, but I'm at work. I'm not looking to announce having a child or adopt either, so that means someone here is doing these searches. Plus I'm on the East coast. I was talking to my boss about my late-night trip to the animal emergency clinic a couple of weeks ago - old cat had a mini-stroke of some kind - and then when I went to check my Gmail a couple of minutes later the ad in the in-box was for "Cat Veterinarians in Vancouver"
