I've been in this situation before, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Unused two track through the woods, and all of a sudden guy with shotgun is aiming at the lead 4x4 looking rather pissed we're tearing up his "back driveway". You can see his house through a break in the trees, but this was not a driveway by any stretch of the imagination. We thought we were on a designated offroading trail too.

He let us go at least. And thankfully none of the people in our group that were armed brandished their guns.
