| Apos He took a shot at AW-ing-and scored a direct hit. |
||
| MaudlinMutantMollusk I have a feeling we won't be seeing that book on Oprah's hot list anytime soon |
||
| Quasar Somewhere out there, Alanis is resting peacefully. |
||
| Di Atribe That's pretty rude to the guy who was arrested for shooting him. It's like a death row pardon two minutes too late. |

Good luck with the book! |

| Allen. The end. Jeez. This is what the collective mentality of this country produces. I mean, was GG Allin right all along??? Also, Dancin_In_Anson, thanks for the link...I think... |
||
| JasonOfOrillia New working title for the book: Rage in America. |
||
| martid4 Now I wish someone else would shoot him. |

| Gyrfalcon Dancin_In_Anson: Let's take a look back at what people had to say when this story broke. Very little, actually. Almost no one supported the shooter, vilified the shooter, doubted the story, or blamed the hitchhiker. Most of the link was people's stories about their own hitchhiking experiences or jokes about the risks you take hiking the backwoods of America. There were a few anti-gun posts. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, or what DiA had in mind when he linked back to the original thread. Did he hope we were running a Zimmerman on this case? |

FTA:This week's award for Easy Irony went to a man who claimed he was shot while hitchhiking across the country to write a book about "Kindness in America." Now gets a new award for admitting that he actually shot himself. This sounds more like the America I know and love.... |

I feel bad for the guy who was arrested because this idiot lied. They dragged the 52 year old suspect to court and the prosecutors asked for a high bail, plus the guy's criminal record was dragged through the press, even though the guy had already served time for those crimes and they had nothing to do with the shooting, except it made the cops and the DA look like they knew what they were doing. I wonder if the guy could successfully sue the cops for how they treated him.

Well of course he did. |
||
| Giltric I'd wager that he hates this country and thinks its citizens are unkind. The book thing was just him trying to fit his personal opinion about this country into some trolltastic book about how kind Americans are. Probably got tired of waiting for some passerby to prove this to him by shooting him so the he shot himself. |

I'm kinda suspecting he never hitchhiked "across America" either. Too dangerous- too much work. Besides, I already HAVE all the ideas to write down, they're awesome. The actual hitchhiking will be boring as hell. I already made up far better, inspirational stories anyways. Think about it- there'd be zero documentation expected from this. So no one's gonna catch you in this minor technicality. Now you might say "man, there are SO many liars out there now! When did we get like this?" IMHO, the world's always been full of liars- we just weren't nearly as good at catching them. Less capacity for research and publicizing the case against them. More skepticism overall, too. Yeah, I think the police may have noticed powder burns on this arm from a close-range shot. |

If he's writing about kindness why was he armed? In case no one was kind (enough)? I've picked up a few hitchers. And I didn't even carry a Rutger. |

"Took a little over a week, this one guy smelled pretty bad, heard that 'Call Me Maybe' song on the radio 87 times, thinking about buying a GPS unit of my own- they seem pretty cool." |

He probably wanted to simulate how dangerous America was in a controlled circumstance rather than take the chance at actual harm in Baltimore or Detroit. |

I'm pretty sure the accused is now granted one free shot at the guy. /where don't you want to be shot? //North America!! |

| quickdraw Dancin_In_Anson: quickdraw: Seems pretty mellow by fark standards The same thought occurred to me but there were a couple of gems. eh - there always are but I really expected much worse. Perhaps because it seemed to be such an open and shut case at the time there wasnt a whole lot of conjecture to be embarrassed by later. Plus there were no gender or racial issues at hand to be trolled about. If the guy had at least been wearing a hoodie then farkers could have made more hay about it. |
