| Remember: white wine with fowl, red wine with beef. And according to Maynard James Keenan, a pinot noir goes best when chewing off a face |

As much as I love TOOL, I would rather see a new APC album, One disc of covers is all we have got in a decade. |

Mugato Slightly on topic, the CDC announced that the recent bouts of cannibalism were not related to any zombie apocalypse. The CDC. That's what THEY want you to think. Don't believe it for a second. The CDC, like the rest of our federal government, sold out to Big Zombie decades ago. |

Got bored reading the thread, so jumped ahead. If I'm duplicating someone else's post, that's... unfortunate. All the rules about which wine goes with which food are nothing more than suggestions, so that someone who isn't a wine expert can pair a wine with a course, and come up with an acceptable combination. Some physicist coined the phrase 'lies to children', to describe the simplifications used when teaching physics in school. It applies here. As for the headline, any wine which is strongly redolent of pinot noir or cabernet sauvignon is probably a: American b: badly blended c: made for the American market by the French Try a halfway-decent French Bordeaux versus some Napa Valley abomination, to see what I mean. As for the cannibalism, it largely depends on the diet of the subject. These days, a late harvest Riesling wouldn't be inappropriate. |

The way the wines brought out the flavor in each dish was AMAZING. I gave never looked at wine the same since. I however do not have the money, the collection, or the patience to so painstakingly pair wines with each dish I make. |

If you're gonna eat people, you need to do so with a hearty beer in hand. Wine is nice and all, but for the REAL cannibalism experience, you just can't over look the beer. |

| Nadie_AZ unicron702: CSB: I love Tool and APC, but Maynard is a huge douche. I went to get a bottle of his stuff and get him to sign it at Whole Foods. I stood in line outside for an hour. Then waited IN STORE for another 45 minutes to buy the bottle, then got in a 3rd line for another hour to get to where his booth was setup. I handed the bottle to a security guard that walked it 10 feet to another guy, that walked the bottle another 10 feet to where Maynard was sitting. He never even looked up. He was reading something, mindlessly signed it, and handed it back to the 2 guards who handed it back to me. I said something a long the lines of thank you and he grunted some response. Maynard is SOOO in touch with his fans! I'm laughing because I think I saw you on his documentary From Blood To Wine. Did you notice his cohort next to him- the one that taught him how to make wine? |

TFA called Maynard the "frontman" for both Tool and APC. He is not the frontman for APC. Billy Howerdel is. /just tryin to help defend poor Billy //he never gets any credit ///Maynard is better, though. // |

I actually think 10,000 Days is one of their best songs. The trick is to skip Wings for Marie (Pt.1 ) because it's basically a less epic and condensed version of Pt. 2, which totally spoils it when listening to them back to back. |

Lateralus 4. 10,000 Days /lol wut? //Moran Yeah, scuse the fark out of me for accidentally typing three instead of four. IT'S STILL TOO FEW IN 19 YEARS, MORAN! Typo excuse won't fly here. You said "tool put out their first material, an EP no less, in '93". Their first EP came out in 92, first album in 93. Then you plainly typed the word t-h-r-e-e, not like you hit 3 instead of 4. You have no idea what you're talking about, this was no accident. You are obsessing over nothing. I didn't say I made a typo, I said I accidentally typed the word three instead of four. The discography I looked up had 1993 instead of 1992, go slash THEIR throats. /moran Have to say that the other guy won this exchange, but enough about that shiat. You said you were a Rammstein fan. austin_millbarge: rudemix: Maynard had a hard time fitting in and buying into almost ever aspect of society except the wine snob part? I recommend you watch this before casting aspersions and judgements. It's a great movie about a man's personal journey. Kinda funny too. Blood Into Wine It's actually mostly boring, but then I'm a person completely devoid of passion and feeling. Some of the funny bits are funny, though. |

I love Tool, make no mistake. But I do have a level of opinion for each of their albums: (EP) Opiate - Good start, interesting stuff, but still a bit green 1. Undertow - Groundbreaking and raw. Great stuff. 2. Aenima - Now they are getting there. Very refined. Best to date. 3. Lateralus - A lot of great stuff. As refined as their last, but too much filler. 4. 10,000 Days - Some good stuff, but it sounds like they are getting tired. With APC... First album - genius. Nothing else to say. Second album - even more genius. As if it was possible to improve on the first. Third album - impossible to listen to remixes. Total crap. Puscifer... Only heard a handful of their material. Some good. Some great. Some too wacky for words. Some total crap. The best song of all is the one where Milla Jovovich does vocals. That is the leader of the pack. That song kicks arse! Thusly my review is complete. |

MagSeven: Have to say that the other guy won this exchange, but enough about that shiat. You said you were a Rammstein fan. I'm just getting into them (got a best of album) but as with most bands, I suspect their best material aren't their singles. Which album would you recommend for me, the casual fan? shiat is right, but I'm a girl, not a guy and I don't give a rat's ass about "winning." Anywho, onto far more important things. Rammstein has changed and grown their sound over the years. The first two albums are more electronic, Flake has a lot more input with his keyboards. The later stuff is more guitar heavy, bass heavy, at least to me. I guess it would depend on what you prefer. Personally, my favorite album is "Mutter" (Mother). There's soft, hard, and VERY hard music on it and I love every song. My recs, but personal taste will vary: Herzelied (Heartache): The standouts are - "Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen" ("Do you Want to See the Bed in Flames") break-up song "Weißes Fleisch" ("White Flesh") brutal farking song - school girl rape/murder from the POV of the killer "Du riechst so gut" ("You Smell So Good") stalker hunting/capturing his victim "Heirate mich" ("Marry Me") necrophilia with 1-year-dead bride Sehnsucht (Longing): The standouts are - "Sehnsucht" ("Longing") yeah, you got the girl back but do you really want her? "Engel" ("Angel") they trash angels it's awesome :) "Du hast" ("You Have") NO, Till does NOT want to marry again "Bück dich" ("Bend Over") Dom is not pleased with his sub, the live act for this got them arrested in Massachusetts, so they had to do a modified version for MiG tour in the states this year which was a bummer "Klavier" ("Piano") personal favorite, very Wagnerian, guy kills his wife/girlfriend then leaves her body propped at the piano until the stench gets too bad Already said I love everything on Mutter Reise, Reise (Arise, Arise, not Travel or Journey in this case): The standouts are - "Mein Teil" (My Part) Part means penis. Armin Meiwes's activities, mostly from the POV of his victim "Keine Lust" (No Desire) Someone is really depressed "Los" (-Less) Sniping at critics, and has a completely different sound from any of their other music "Amerika" (America) Some English in this one, the guys don't like Bush either "Stein um Stein" (Stone by Stone) Walling someone up, but it's a metaphor "Ohne dich" (Without You) Beautiful, soft song about lost love Rosenrot (Rosered) Kinda controversial among fans, but I like a lot of the stuff on it so screw them. NOTE: Pay NO ATTENTION to "Te quiero Puta!" (I Love You Whore - Till wanted to do a Latino song in Spanish and no one says no to Till, but UGH!) and "Stirb nicht vor mir" (Don't Die Before Me - would have been okay but I can't stand the woman they got to sing on it). Standouts - "Mann gegen Mann" (Man Against Man) You go, gay guys, keep on truckin' "Spring" (Leap) Go ahead, jump, suicide is painless, with a Rammy twist "Zerstören" (Destroy) Sometimes you just gotta tear shiat up "Feuer und Wasser" (Fire and Water) sort of love song, kinda stalkery and grabby, starts out soft then gets heavy "Benzin" (Gasoline) he's a pyromaniac, pyromaniac on the floor Wo bist du?" (Where Are You?) love song, personally I think the reason he can't find her is he's stabbed her to death and buried her but that's just me Liebe ist für alle da (Love is There for Everyone): Standouts include - "Ich tu dir Weh" (I Hurt You) love love love this song, it's as heavy as it gets, Dom details the horrendous things he's going to do to his sub, banned in three countries until they won a court case and got it unbanned "Waidmanns Heil" (Huntsman's Salute) need a woman? hunt her down "Haifisch" (Shark) what it's like to be Rammstein "Wiener Blut" (Viennese Blood) All about the Fritzl case in Austria "Pussy" lots of English in this one, about sex tourism, the video is AWESOME but no, they aren't actually doing the women, they used body doubles, which should be obvious in regards to Flake "Liebe ist für alle da" (Love is there for everyone) if you can't find someone to love, just take what you want "Mehr" (More) condemnation of all the greedy bastards in the world "Führe mich" (Lead Me) love this song, a Dom/sub love song (to me anyway) "Halt" (Stop) what's a shooting spree among friends? or at least neighbors "Liese" (Liese) sweet, simple song about the rape of the little goose girl Those are the albums so far. MiG is a "best of" collection. There's several video packages and two live concert videos, which I love. They make very interesting and often funny videos as a general rule. Hope this wall of text helps! |

| Genevieve Marie If anyone gets a chance to go see Puscifer... do it. Well worth it. Seriously, the best show I've ever been to. I've seen Tool and I've seen Puscifer. I enjoy Puscifer more. (Boyfriend never lets me say that out loud near Tool fans because he fears for my safety.) |

They are meant to be listened to as a whole, and together they make one of the most beautiful, epic, and haunting songs I've ever heard. Skipping part 1 means that part 2 doesn't make sense. |

Tool finished with Vicarious and at the end (towards the end of the tour, im guessing Maynards cords were tired) he walked towards the front of the stage and swept the Mic over the crowd to sing the final "VICCAAAARRRIIIOOOUSSLY" before he moved to the long "IIIIII live" |

I saw them in Baton Rouge when they came through, and I'm considering heading over to see them in San Antonio in a few weeks. I wasn't crazy about the first album when I heard it originally, but Conditions of my Parole is just an awesome album, and getting into it made me appreciate V is for Vagina more than I did originally. The show is really theatrical- almost like a cabaret type of thing. I actually don't overly care for early Tool. I don't really love their music until Lateralus when the alchemical stuff starts to dominate it. There are songs I like on Aenima, but Lateralus really does it for me. 10,000 Days is still my favorite though. I uh... man, I don't blame Maynard for getting completely and totally jaded after that album. When you sing an incredibly emotional tribute to your dead mother and her life and her spirit and people mosh to it and criticize you for selling out...ugh. Plus, the worst thing about a Tool show is always having to be around Tool fans. |

However, when they came thru Houston 2 years ago, the whole place came to a stop during that, lighters everywhere. When they were done they got a loud ovation. The only thing louder was the closing ovation. I tend to sit up a few levels to avoid the real douches. They'd probably give me hell for my tattoo. |
