It was a lot of work and all but the movie doesn't need any interpreting, unless by the Swedish All-Nude Interpretive Dance Society. That would work.

Yeah - this only proves the movie's audio track can stand alone and still be good.

BTW - someone other than me has had to notice that the character motivation of Peter Weyland in Prometheus is VERY similar (if not identical) to Roy Batty in Blade Runner, no?

I picked up on it. Ridley Scott's not known for his subtlety,is he?

A blobby mess. Without the audio from the movie, I would have no idea what I was looking at.

Yes he is, you can tell from the pigments, and I've seen a number of drippy colors in my time.

Except it's already been confirmed by Ridley Scott that he is.

Yes I know all that. That doesn't matter. Deckard being a replicant is a clever M. Night Shamalan twist but the story works better if Deckard isn't a replicant, I don't care care what Ridley says.

Speaking of movies, did you watch 'God Bless America'?

Hell yeah I did, thanks for that. It was great. It's not for everybody but everybody should watch it. The filmmakers have my permission to put that quote on the DVD cover.

I'm not paraphrasing when I say "form" the very beginning I could tell this "moive" wasn't worth the effort to watch, let alone create.

I turned it off after 20 seconds, which proves I'm not a replicant.

This. I just finished watching The Thirteenth Floor, which had a similar problem - the story worked, right up until they reveal that everything is made up and nothing matters. If the main character, from whose perspective the story is told, was never a real person, how can we believe anyone else was real?

That.

Deckard being a replicant makes no sense; how can a replicant administer a Voigt-Kampff test if he cannot understand its premise? Why manufacture a replicant with the strength of a puny human? You'll notice that the off-world replicants kicked Deckard's ass. What is the purpose of Deckard falling for Rachel? Why are we supposed to be moved by Batty saving Deckard, if it's just one android saving another, which destroys the idea of the replicant proving that he is more humane than the human?

From a narrative point of view, the story falls apart if Deckard is a replicant.

Oh, and Prometheus suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked!

In the book, I believe he just sleeps with her. He loves his wife.

Yep, exactly what I was thinking. Turn off the audio, and it just becomes a mess of colors.

No, it doesn't.

Tyrell strived for "more human, than human." By creating Deckard as a replicant to challenge himself as a secret project he was able to prove his ability and solve the problem of roge replicants at the same time -- having replicants hunt themselves is a testament to corp efficiency and a commentary on humanity itself.

It fits perfectly with the overall narrative: Gaff is in on the "special project" (leaving the unicorn origami because he knew it was an implanted memory and his admonition to use his remaining time wisely as he takes Rachel away at the end), Deckard is emotionally clumsy throughout the film, he's not that much weaker than the replicants as he takes a lot of beatings and is still able to function. The monotony and darkness of the film suggests the question of wat really separates "us from them" in a dystopia where we're all cogs in a corporate machine asked to do things without evaluating the morality of it all "Have you retired a human by mistake Mr. Deckard?"

I'm a big fan of indie re-interpretation projects, but um... that was not good. Impressionist, at best. Indistinguishable blobs of color most of the time. I'm sure that was a lot of work, but it needs some clarity. I give it a B-. I have that authority.

When I saw 'Blade Runner water-color', I assumed it would be original animation based on the film, not just rotoscoping.

/I like Blade Runner. And I'm all for artsy-fartsy stuff. I spent my formative years working at a non-profit. I even donated to the Yes Men and Adbusters once or twice. But that was video was stupid.
