Oprah interviews Kim Kardashian, who tells of being put on birth control at 14, and there's a picture of her at 14, and there's some other stuff, and then I blacked out. To sum up: You'd go to jail for it

I'm not saying a girl that young should be having sex, but if she is, she shouldn't be making a baby

That's not how I'd describe Mr. "you'd go to jail for it."

Age 11, for my wife. This might sound weird, but controlling pregnancy is just one use for Birth Control pills.

Yet another is when you've got a poor little girl who's been bleeding from there for going on 6 weeks and has turned anemic as a result.

I could give a wet slap what Kim what's-her-name was on them for. Even if those subjects held any interest for me, the submitter's ignorance is far more alarming than anything this article might have to say about some rich bink I don't know.

Age 11 for me as well. Birth control was a GODSEND after 3 months straight of bleeding. I actually had no idea birth control was mainly used to prevent pregnancy until I was 15. It's great for young girls to regulate their cycle and clear up acne.

Honestly, even calling oral contraceptives "birth control" these days is kind of misleading. The hormone regime is just straight-up beneficial, it gives us control of some of our biological cycles and suppresses some unnecessary functions, it's essentially a straight-up improvement in human biology pretty much from the age of puberty (so as early as 11 or 12) for many if not most women.

Call it leveraging our intelligence to accelerate biological evolution through technological means if you're decently educated, or one-upping God if you're stupid. Either way, it makes us better than we were and there's no real reason to be having a debate over the stuff.

Honestly, WHO THE FARK CARES???

And I mean that two ways, I mean that in the way of "Who cares about a 15 y.o. on birth control?" And "Who cares about Kim Kardashian?" She's only important to herself. She's not a politician, she's not an actress (A walk on role as herself or a reality tv show isn't acting, it's being yourself, and that sex tape, hell, if that's worthy of fame, then go to lobstertube and find a ton of women there more deserving of fame than her), she's a successful business woman, I will give her that. But beyond that, no.

Can we start the process of getting rid of her? I don't mean execution (though, tempting). Stop linking to Kardashian articles, stop watching her show, basically, boycot that family. Urge your congressman to support a law legally allowing the groin kick to anyone who says that they watch their show/buy their product/etc...

You know, if you're the kind of publicity-seeking whore who wants their 15 minutes and some licensing rights so badly you'll do anything for it... people probably aren't going to believe you when you claim the sex tape wasn't released deliberately, and that the $5M 'settlement' with Vivid wasn't a prearranged contract deal. After all, the process must have required some PR help because she weren't famous before the tape.

Also, if you're not that kind of person and your sex tape does make it into the wild, you probably try to avoid publicity and hope it all goes away so you can live a normal life again.

I would have loved to have been on the pill because I never had a regular cycle, and when it did hit, it was horrible. But, the pill had the reputation of being for birth control, and putting your kid on birth control was the equivalent of saying it was okay to have sex.

That was the 80s, Catholic. You folks who got put on it at age 15, age 11 (???!), what decade was that?

/you couldn't pay me to get on it now

- Why do so many young women's bodies need to be regulated in the first place?
- Are women's bodies built wrong, anymore? Why is that so? Genetics or environment?
- What other options are there, which don't involve artificial chemical treatment?

I'm torn between (a) who the heck cares? (b) would you rather have a 14-year-old on birth control or a pregnant 14-year-old? and (c) you do know that The Pill (more accurately, all the various pills) is prescribed for things other than birth control, and that doctors are cautious about prescribing it because of all the known side effects, right?

This is a fail all the way 'round. Article, subby, interviewer, interviewee....

Can't say I'm surprised that she was that well-developed at 14. And yes, if my daughter looked like that I'd put her on the pill at 14 too. I can't argue with her parents' logic on that score.

I'm 23 now, been on the pill since I was 11.

CSB Time:
I was raised by my grandparents, and when my cycle started at 11 my grandmother was already familiar with the serious problems it was going to cause me. Her daughter (my aunt) also had serious menstrual problems causing her abdominal muscles to cramp so badly she would have to go to the hospital. They put her on the pill, and it helped her immensely. I came from a very religious Southern Baptist family, so the stigma of birth control was very much there. But my grandmother didn't want me to go through the same pain so she took me to the doctor and got me on the pill ASAP. My cycle became regular, my cramping disappeared and I've been great ever since. I also have the pleasant side effect of not having any babies.

I said this before: It's easy to hate Snooki, Lohan, Paris Hilton, etc. because there's something "off" on all of their looks. They aren't beautiful.

Kardashian is absolutely STUNNING to me but her personality and family are atrocious. It's a very difficult thing to rationalize.

Seriously, I had the same problem. I guess I got mine around 1987-1988. It was like Freddy Kreuger took up residence on a monthly basis and I was in HELL but my mother told me "only sluts and pregnant women" go to gynecologists and so I had to suffer. She was mad at me when, in college, I took matters into my own hands, went to Planned Parenthood, and stopped suffering the way that I was with my periods. 11-18 were some really sucky years. :/

Clearly you care, because you clicked on a discussion thread about Kim Kardashian and are participating in a discussion about her.

The internet is a really big place, it's fairly easy to avoid discussion on one specific individual if you are so inclined.

Why are you biatching at everyone elses behavior while:

a) you could easily completely ignore the subject matter if you wanted to

b) you are contributing to the very thing that you are decrying

My guess is you like watching/reading this tabloid trash but you feel self conscious about it so you leave a few posts about how vapid it is to make yourself feel better.
