| Somacandra ManateeGag: I don't know, I think he's on some kind of "enjoy life while you're young" story line, and it was gay rights before that. You people follow goddamn STORYLINES in Garfield? /Garfield has storylines? |

| Tumbleweed Garden
I still find the old strips amusing. It all became dull once Davis started milling out the strips with a whole frickin' team. |
||
| The_Sponge CSB: I loved the Garfield Halloween special when I was a kid. /Still do. |

I am a huge fan of the Funnies and I still read them every day. As a kid Garfield was a favorite of mine and so he still has a place in my heart. I dont read him much anymore and I am not sure why Jim doesnt end it, but if we feels he still has a story to tell then go for it. |
||
| theorellior It's funny how many people remember Lyman, since he was in maybe about ten total strips. As a kid I always wondered why he got thrown under a bus. Especially since Odie was technically his dog. |

Mike_LowELL: ha-ha-guy: Also Nermal was underrated. The Garfield vs Nermal strips were some of the better work. [images.ucomics.com image 600x173] Back when the cartoon was genuinely funny. Agreed. Nermal strips were usually the best and legit funny. |

Always remembered Lyman as a roommate, not the neighbor. Made more sense as to why Odie was around all of the time. Oh, well, makes no difference in the list's crappiness. The voice of 'Garfield' starred on 'Rhoda' and 'The Real Ghostbusters' I for one am shocked that Lorenzo Music had the gall to take jobs other than being the voice of Garfield. Also, that Venkman, who only sounded exactly like Garfield, might have had the same voice actor. Had no idea. Thanks, article writer guy! /RIP L.Music |

As children my siblings and I would use Garfield as leverage to get our mother to make lasagna, so there's that. |

Andromeda: Loved Garfield as a kid- the TV show was a favorite, read all the comic book compilations, you name it, and hence I feel awful mentioning how bad it is now. Sort of like my relationship with the Simpsons. Funny thing is I still have a few of the older books, and when I pick them up I still chuckle at a few of the comics. Makes me feel better knowing that Garfield actually was a good comic when I was a kid, and it's not just my tastes changing for these things. /been on the "Garfield's Nightmare" ride in Kennywood mentioned in the article //sorry to mention it sucks I used to really love the old Garfield strips and cartoons and whatnot. My favorite of the cartoons was "Garfield: His 9 Lives"; it just gets really weird and surreal and kind of touching at points. I just watched it again a few days ago, after it got features on io9, and ironically (or not, depending on your POV), the best two stories from that one were the two that had the least to do with Garfield: "Diana's Piano" and "Lab Animal". |

5. The Chicago Sun Times cancelled the strip but a massive reader protest brought it back So that's who I blame for taking 9 Chickweed Lane from my news paper. Yes, let's take away a comic about a ballet dancer in very form fitting clothing but heaven forbid we take away a comic about an obese cat with an irresponsible owner! |

I do kinda like Odie - he seems very doggesque |

Here's #12 for you: Odie never "speaks" (or uses thought-bubble telepathy). Except for in ONE strip, in which he says "I'm Hungry." |
||

I remember the one Garfield comic where Odie spoke. Anyone else remember what Odie said? |
||
| Jocundry ha-ha-guy: I remember Lyman *feels older*. Also Nermal was underrated. The Garfield vs Nermal strips were some of the better work. I'm old enough that I still think Lyman is a main character. Nermal was great. I wanted to name one of our cats Nermal. |

BeesNuts: Extra funny cause a friend of mine has a big fat male tabby cat that likes a good belly rub... and he recently contracted an inner ear infection and had a serious case of the Dizzy-cats for about 4 weeks. And that's roughly what his eyes looked like for that month. /He's better now, totally harmless once he got his antibiotics. "Better" now that his eyes no longer look like that? Speak for yourself. |

meat0918: Is it just me, or has this run up to this 12th anniversary been rather pointed and mean spirited? I've heard Jim Davis hates Garfield, but it's kinda showing this past few weeks. Guess you missed the strips back when Davis had Garfield starve and die after he was abandoned by Jon and Odie. Here a summary of that fun Week of Hell. |

| theorellior meat0918: I've heard Jim Davis hates Garfield, but it's kinda showing this past few weeks. Jim Davis can wallow in a tub of shredded $100 bills any time he wants to because of his 1978 brainfart, so forgive me if my tears are hard to come by. |
