I'm assuming at this point that he can't even hear himself talk...otherwise he'd be amazed at the sheer stupidity of what he just said.

then again, maybe he couldn't hear his own words over the sound of Rubio being crunched under the party bus.

Step one: Filibuster everything
Step two: Wait a while
Step three: IT DIDN'T PASS THE SENATE WHICH DEMOCRATS CONTROL!!!

Oh gosh, so that should mean it passed the democratically controlled house too, right? I mean that was before midterm elections, so borg simultaneously complimented and insulted the democrats in a single expulsion of derp. Well done borg, you're a testament to stupidity.

Asking questions of the president is frowned upon as it may put them in a position where they have to take a stand or make a definitive statement.

We can't have that.

This was their strategy, after all. Filibuster everything, take credit for what they could, blame Obama for what they couldn't, and dodge any blame for themselves.

Problem is, that strategy failed when it became obvious that the GOP was happy to destroy the middle class & let the poor suffer to keep their pockets lined and their lobbyists happy. That's why they have no chance of taking back the Oval Office. Now, they're just trying to keep their seats - if they can continue to filibuster everything, well, nothing's changed, and they will be able to use that during the 2016 Presidential election to keep a new Democrat from taking the Oval Office.

Vote Republicans out of the Senate and the House. It's the only way.

It was fillibustered in the Senate. Democrats didn't have 60 votes.

GOP Senators who previously supported and voted for DREAM in 2007, like Susan Collins, joined the filibuster simply to deny the Obama administration a "win".

But somehow according to GOP talking points and people who suck on GOP cawk, Obama just now made the issue "political" on Friday.

45 NEAs?! In MY Senate?

I mean, a single teachers' union has bankrupted all 50 states plus Canada and Mexico, and now you're telling me that there are 44 MORE of them, and in the US Senate to boot?

Fark me.

// the NEA is probably the single largest factor in my education, and not because of the teachers I had

This move from Obama couldn't have worked out any better for him and his party.

1. It gets Latinos to the ballot box to pull the D lever come November
2. It basically torpedos any chance of Rubio being the VP nom
3. A few Republicans look like racist asshats
4. A few non-racist asshat Republicans get to fight with the racist asshats in a nice little GOP civil war
5. Romney's wishy washy non-position on the topic looks amazingly weak
6. Boeher's flip flopping here looks boner-rific
7. The "generic consensus" position on the topic in the country overall gets pushed leftward

Bulleye. Home run. Critical hit. Touchdown. A++++ will troll again.

I really don't farking understand this:

"It puts everyone in a difficult position," Boehner complained at a press availability Tuesday, arguing that the administration's unilateral move made reaching a bipartisan legislative solution more difficult.

Unable to embrace the new policy for fear of angering their conservative base, and unwilling to attack the decision on its merits for fear of further angering immigrant voters, Republicans have resorted to a very narrow critique: By short-circuiting Congress, and putting members in an awkward position, Obama's made achieving a legislative solution more difficult.

What the fark is this "difficult position?" Either you agree with the policy or you do not agree with the policy. Either you want to pass legislation like this policy or you don't.

Either Obama did something you like, making it easier for you, or he did something you oppose and you're going to try and repeal it. Not just "making it difficult to do the same thing"

The only answer is Obama has made their legislative efforts "difficult" because now they can't agree with Obama because if they did they would be AGREEING WITH OBAMA. And then the world would end.

These whining Republican legislators can go DIAF.

It used to be something that had some modicum of GOP support. It was originally proposed by Orin Hatch in 2001. It was re-introduced in 2007, co-sponsored by Charles Hagel and Richard Lugar, and had the support of of Several GOP Senators.

But now it's simply dead in the water because they can't let sekret kenyan mooslem "win" something.

Some people have an obsession with what the right wing media tells them is "fair," and for reasons only they understand, having a broken system of legitimate immigration means that we have to punish people who came here as children and who have demonstrated that they will be productive members of society. They see it as a giant queue of millions of people, and the graduates and veterans who grew up in America are cheating somehow. I don't fully understand it.

If pressed for clarification long enough, you sometimes get a thinly-veiled racist statement about brown people not being real Americans or trying to "take over."
