Idiocracy is a documentary |
| Apos Asinine tag is currently on the lam... |
| serpent_sky FTA: "It's definitely an error on our part and we're taking full responsibility for that" I'm kind of shocked to see them admit to that. But does that mean that he's not going to be held responsible for being dumb enough (smart enough?) to walk out like that? |
| ZAZ He walked to a staff door and pushed a buzzer. He was "inadvertently released" by a correctional officer who was monitoring a closed-circuit security camera, Verinsky said. I understand when workers in office buildings and residents of apartment complexes ignore the rules saying never let anybody in without checking ID, retina scan, DNA, fingerprints, and references. You'd think jail workers would at least try to think about their job. |

serpent_sky: FTA: "It's definitely an error on our part and we're taking full responsibility for that" I'm kind of shocked to see them admit to that. But does that mean that he's not going to be held responsible for being dumb enough (smart enough?) to walk out like that? Came here to say this. Certainly don't see that type of accountability much. I'm sure they'll clear this up by firing the Deputy that said it. |

| Relatively Obscure "Crucifixion?" "Er, no, freedom actually." "What?" "Yeah, they said I hadn't done anything and I could go and live on an island somewhere." "Oh I say, that's very nice. Well, off you go then." "No, I'm just pulling your leg, it's crucifixion really." "Oh yes, very good. Well..." "Yes I know, out of the door, one cross each, line on the left." |
| NewportBarGuy Because Souza's arrests have been for nonviolent drug offenses, Verinsky said the public was not in danger after his escape. Then why the f*ck are you spending money to lock him up? |

NewportBarGuy: Because Souza's arrests have been for nonviolent drug offenses, Verinsky said the public was not in danger after his escape. Then why the f*ck are you spending money to lock him up? THIS. He's not a danger to society; he's an inconvenience to society. |
| Gyrfalcon NewportBarGuy: Because Souza's arrests have been for nonviolent drug offenses, Verinsky said the public was not in danger after his escape. Then why the f*ck are you spending money to lock him up? Non-violent doesn't mean he's not a danger to the public. Based on his mugshot, I'm guessing he has a meth lab in his basement. Or did. Until it blew up. |

serpent_sky: I'm kind of shocked to see them admit to that. They would have come up with a better story and not admitted fault had it actually been a serious violent criminal offender who escaped. The most this guy is going to do is maybe burn himself with a shake & bake meth lab. |
| SoCalChris NewportBarGuy: Because Souza's arrests have been for nonviolent drug offenses, Verinsky said the public was not in danger after his escape. Then why the f*ck are you spending money to lock him up? Give them a break, it's not like they locked him up 21 times or anything. |

| oh_please "We made a mistake. Obviously it's an embarrassment for us. We're investigating to make sure it doesn't happen again," Verinsky said. The door is now off limits to everyone, he said. This is why we can't have nice things. |

NewportBarGuy: Because Souza's arrests have been for nonviolent drug offenses, Verinsky said the public was not in danger after his escape. Then why the f*ck are you spending money to lock him up? This I suspect the answer is "To keep Law Enforcement and Correctional officers employed". |

Gyrfalcon Then why the f*ck are you spending money to lock him up? Non-violent doesn't mean he's not a danger to the public. Based on his mugshot, I'm guessing he has a meth lab in his basement. Or did. Until it blew up. Non-violent also means he could have burglary, drug dealing, ID Theft, Theft, DUI and other non-violent crimes but certainly detrimental to the community and worthy of jail time. Repeat offenders rarely are "just" users. They have to support their habit somehow and gainful employment is rarely their go-to means. |
| Gyrfalcon caddisfly: One Bad Apple: Heh, just pushed the buzzer and strolled on out. That guy is sooooo fired. A public employee fired? Not a chance. S/he will be suspended with pay and go to Hawaii. And have no job to come back to that s/he will enjoy, I guarantee it. Corrections officers are not happy with fools who can't do their jobs; and his/her co-workers will make life miserable when he/she returns. I've seen it happen in public service jobs. It's not pretty. |

"Deputies met Souza in downtown Santa Cruz about 12:30 p.m. and transported him back to jail. He was arrested on suspicion of escape and the other previous charges." HA!! suspicion....SUSPICION? What incentive was there to turn himself in? Dude may deserve some jail time, but at least drop the escape charge since A: it was your mistake and 2: he turned himself in. |
