Today, it kind of depends on the kind of bale being done and the article leaves out that important detail. The huge round bale system is fully mechanized. For small squares bales, it could involve a lot of manual handling although there are some very clever automatic stacking system around. Surely expensive but a lot less handling than the old thrower shooting bales into the trailer.
