The world can never repay men like this. Never forget. |

*Takes Obama' s Nobel Peace Prize and gives it to Sir Nicholas Winton and that other lady that smuggled kids out in a tool box. * We need to have a serious talk with the people that give that thing out. |

attention span of a retarded fruit fly: attention span of a retarded fruit fly: *Takes Obama' s AND AL GORES Nobel Peace Prize and gives it to Sir Nicholas Winton and that other lady that smuggled kids out in a tool box. * We need to have a serious talk with the people that give that thing out. FIFM All Nobels are handed out only to living persons, for accomplishments certified in the prior Nobel year. I don't agree with them all either, but get over it. The Nobel is prestigious, but it's also not the damn Keys to the Universe. If you hate it and think it's stupid, either shrug it off and move on with your life, or come up with your own award to hand out that you think is better.* I happen to disagree with a lot of Nebula awards, but I'm not whining like a biatch over it -- and I *am* a biatch. (* There's a pretty simple logic here: If a lot of Nobels are handed out to the wrong people, then it's obviously not that special, so why all the fuss?) |

adeist69: While what he did was definitely commendable I was underwhelmed by the wimp video and had to look it up on Wiki after it popped up on my Facebook. If you want a real tearjerker story from Wimp, try this video on for size: WWII widow finally finds out what happened to her missing husband. (pops) Billie D. Williams: French hero. |

I wonder if any of them grew up to be serial killers. That would have been a "oopsie". |

Faith boost. Spontaneous tears. Wonderful story about the WWII widow, too. |

No one must know I dropped them in the toilet. Not I, the man who drafted the Paris Peace Accord. ![]() It's like a 1970s British horror film at 1:16 when they all stand up. He's all WTF? Zombies! |

I finally got around to watching the piece on Lt. Billie D. Harris, and doing some follow-up research (because the video linked above doesn't make it clear why the people of Les Ventes venerate him so much). Very moving story. |

hokiethug1992: This guy and the professor at Virginia Tech who saved all but one of his students. Someone tell me why Librescu hasn't received the Pres. Medal of Freedom yet? Personally hadn't thought in that scope. I did donate in his memory, though. Cannot imagine how many "thank-you's" his widow wrote, because I didn't donate much but I got one. |
