Well, you can't really blame them, it's not like they've been in this situation before. Plus it might have meant more if they won the last game by a single goal instead of 5, I mean, it's not like a Game 7 OT win puck.

Maybe Chris Pronger stole it.

Thats what I thought when I first heard of this story a few days ago. Which is it? The puck that was the 2nd goal (which may not even be in play anymore), or the puck that was on the ice at the horn?

It could be anywhere with that team. If Richards or Carter ever had possession of it, it might have ended up on a nightstand in the apartment of any one of the 500 women I'm sure they've bagged in the few nights since. Or it's lodged in Penner's beard, and he wouldn't know with that thing.

Back around 1999 or so, I was a pedestrian and saw an SUV driving down the road, honking its horn and I could see something inside that I could only describe as big and metal and shiny. Some jock was leaning out the passenger window and screaming "CONN SMYTHE TROPHY! YEAH! TROPHY!! BLERGH!! CONN SMYTHE!!!1!1!!"

I wondered where they'd "borrowed" it from.

If it's the goal puck, I would've had the puck pulled after every goal scored so it can be kept either as a team memento (as the Cup winning puck) or as a player memento (to say they scored in the Cup Final).

Tonight is the first night of the draft.

I want Burke to trade the Leafs first round pick for Jordan Staal.

Staal doesn't want to be a 3rd line centre anymore and Leafs need a big skilled centre to play with Kessel & Lupul. Staal will also help those two defensively!

I say pull the trigger on that Burke

first trade of the day?

Philly traded Bobrovsky to Columbus for a 2nd round pick and two 4th round selections.

I think I am okay with that, Bobrovsky is young and has a decent record of being 42-23-10
and Columbus desperately need a goalie

Plus Columbus can't draft for sh*t, so anytime they can flip picks for actual warm bodies with NHL experience, it's a plus for them.

Not the first time I've noticed this but it seems like all this article did was copy an article from Rich Hammond from a few days ago.

As if anyone would go to ESPN for LA Kings (or any hockey) coverage.

I'm tired of your renegade ways! You're getting transferred to Ohio. Now get out of my office, Bobrovsky!

I'm guess there won't be a draft thread tonight, might as well use this one.

The Leafs should go after Jonathan Bernier, not Roberto Luongo. (Other teams, like Chicago, will probably try to get him, too.)

Bernier's stock is super low right now (haven't seen him play since the end of March) and the Kings still have a year to negotiate Quick's extension. Unless there is someone in the draft they absolutely covet I don't see a trade happening during the summer. Harder to negotiate if they bring Zatkoff up as the backup now.

Maybe see a trade during the season if a team has goaltender troubles/injuries and wants to start fresh with a young goaltender for the future.

Rumor (and possibly video evidence) is that Elias picked up the puck on the ice after the the game ended. After that he handed it off to Brodeur in case that's his last game played in the NHL.

As far as the evidence goes, there's some video and screenshots on the internet showing Elias picking up the puck but I'm at work and too lazy to look it up.

My roommate mentioned last week that the Blackhawks lost the puck after their 2010 win. It must be an epidemic.

Well, to be fair, just about everyone lost the puck in that situation.

Kane absolutely left that in some college dorm room.

I guess I should explain that Doug Mientwhatshisface had the ball that Keith Foulke threw him in the final game of the World Series for the final out in 2004 for a very long time.

Looks like Elias might have it, and who cares? There's actually several pucks used during a game as they tend to occasionally fly into the stands.I don't remember there being any rule about only the winning team can take the puck. The winning team got the Cup. They don't need the puck too, and if the HOF wanted it, they could have darn sure told the refs to put a couple aside from earlier after play stoppages.

Gee.
