Some say he was banned from St. Andrews for literally driving from the tee box, and that he gets more tail than Tiger Woods. All we know is, he's called The Stig.

So, does this have to be on a course, or can I just tee up next to I-95 and get my name in the book?

And the driver gets no credit for this? I mean, a hole-in-one isn't exactly an unheard-of occurrence, and it's not exactly like a golf hole is big enough to seat 2 adults, nor maneuverable enough to position itself until it's underneath your falling ball.

If he'd just landed it in the car, I'd be impressed. But the driver actively tried to catch it. So, yawn.

Yea, it's like when rocket scientist say that landing a Mars rover on a certain spot on the planet is like shooting a basketball into a net a 100 miles away. I always ask myself, without any course corrections during flight?? Amazing..

I was hoping the direction of the ball would have been perpendicular to that of the car, not parallel to it.

Yeah, there was an animation I stumbled across a few months ago that showed just how complicated of a path the latest Venus probe had to take, it had to use Venus itself to slow down twice, plus use the earth, and I think the sun to speed up in the first place. It was hopelessly complicated... Plus, with something like the Mars Rovers, they have to hit the spot on the planet they were aiming for as well, like you mentioned, so you have a whole new set of complications.

a lot of the time those probes carry enough reaction mass to keep antennas pointed at earth and do a braking thrust when they get near their destination.

they don't exactly have very big gas tanks. there might be tiny corrections but the path mentioned in the other comment was calculated ahead of time and they aimed it so that when all was said and done it would coast on that path on its own.

less like shooting a basketball into a net 100 miles away and more like nailing a fly's left testicle at a quarter mile with a blowgun dart on a breezy day.

Meh.
I threw an empty bottle of Guinness from a moving car and hit a golfer, last week.

why even wear a helmet (without a face mask) if you're gonna look straight up at the damn incoming ball?!?

Came here to say this. Might have been worth watching if he'd hit the driver in the head....

Whoop-dee-freaking-do. Go to the driving range and aim for the kid in the cage on the tractor. That's skill.

Came for this. Shouldn't the driver get the record? All the golfer did was hit the ball straight (not always easy, but he's a pro).

I was golfing in Colorado, and I've got a wicked slice, magnified by the thin air. There's was a road on the right side of the fairway, and I landed my tee shot in the back of a moving dump truck. I didn't realize if I taped it I would get world record, lol.

Seemed to rely more on the driver's talent than the golfer's.. all the golfer had to do was hit the ball in a general direction while the driver had to precisely maneuver the car to catch it.

Yep, came here as well to say the driver(of the car) should get the record, not the other driver.

"I played golf, I'm not good at golf, I never got good at it. I never got a hole in one, but I did hit a guy in one. And that's way more satisfying. You're supposed to yell "fore." But I was too busy mumbling, "there ain't no way that's gonna hit him." - Mitch Hedberg.

I couldn't care less about rich white people games.

I once threw a half-full beer can into the sunroof of a moving car once from 75 yards. I would like an award, but then they'd know who did that.

Couldn't he still have made the record with the car doing 1 mph?
