Seven-year-old British golf prodigy inspired by Happy Gilmore, marking perhaps the only time an Adam Sandler movie has brought anything besides utter desolation and hopelessness into the life of one of its viewers

Watching Happy Gilmore inspired to me to watch The Price Is Right for the first time.

However, I'm unsure if that counts as hopeless or not.

By the way, FSN showed that the Happy Gilmore swing actually does work, for exactly the reasons you thought it would - more deliverable momentum. They got Padraig Harrington to try it, and he was adding nearly 10% to his average distance, but it was far more inaccurate.

I've tried many times, but I slice the ball. Up and over the driving range net.

I actually thought Adam Sandler movies were good. . . when there were only a couple of them.

If you see only one Adam Sandler movie in your life and you don't have a bug up your butt, there should be no shame in thinking it's a decent comedy movie. The problem with Adam Sandler is that he only makes one movie.

I imagine that's why nobody does it. Incredible loss of accuracy for a chance at hitting it 10% further is not a great trade off

Happy Gilmore had two of the greatest bit actors in the business.

Bob Barker and the white haired caddy boy. Caddy boy went on to be a research scientist. He is doing amazing things in some field. Bob Barker went on to nail anyone with a wayward pussy.

I bet the club manufacturers love that movie. I can't imagine how many replacement clubs people bought after breaking their old clubs trying to emulate the movie.

Two. The silly comedy, and the weird random surprising one, like 'Punch Drunk Love.'

Which is wonderful, and hardly a "Happy Gilmore" clone.

/Liked 'Little Nicky' too
//Happened to be in Grand Central on the day the filming was taking place there. Only time I've seen a movie being filmed. Was interesting.

Screw you, subby. Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and to a lesser extent, The Waterboy, were good movies.
Sandler should have stopped there, but they still seem to make a profit so whatever.

Happy Gilmore was the reason, I decided to never take up golf.

Despite the fact that my very good fastpitch hitting would've almost certainly transferred into good driving ability (as it did for others on the team) I never would've been able live down the name.

/Gilmore

The only AS movie I've ever seen was Happy Gilmore, and I just remember it as one long, unfunny, Subway commercial.

Scratch golfer at age 7? They must have short courses. No 7 year old could shot par on a 6700 yard course. He have to channeling Moe Norman.
