Don't they now ask the AG's office to investigate Holder?

But first, let's break down what the House voted to do, exactly. One, the House today authorized criminal charges to be filed against Holder. But the decision to file criminal charges is left up to Ronald Machen, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia - who answers to Holder. (Machen is also an Obama administration appointee.) The chances of Machen filing charges against his boss? Around zilch. And even then, the administration has sent the documents down the memory hole, meaning Holder is immune from prosecution.

Oo, how scary. They're going to waste more of our time investigating Holder over an issue already proven to be dead, since it's been determined the Department did nothing wrong in "Fast & Furious". I mean nothing ILLEGAL. But let's keep flogging that pollo.

Yup. This is a pointless symbolic gesture.

FTA - "A large number of Democrats -- including members of the Congressional Black Caucus and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi -- walked off the House floor in protest and refused to participate in the vote."

Naturally... looked like a Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton "we shall overcome" kind of parade. Always good for some laughs.

House members are also expected to pass a civil contempt measure Thursday afternoon. The civil measure would allow the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to file a lawsuit asking the courts to examine the Justice Department's failure to produce certain subpoenaed documents, as well as the validity of the administration's recent assertion of executive privilege over the documents in question.

This is going to blow up in the Republicans faces so bad. They should just leave it alone now if they had any sense, but of course they will have an independent judge review all the documents and embarrass them right before the election.

Why do you think Boehner scheduled it for today? Even the house leadership thinks that this crap is moronic, and they wanted to hide it in all the SCOTUS fallout.

This is most assuredly 110% politically motivated. There can be little doubt of it.

However, for once the Republicans in Congress are correct. You don't get to ignore a subpoena because you think it's politically motivated.
