Don't they now ask the AG's office to investigate Holder? |
||
| MurphyMurphy But how did they hold him? Closely? Warmly? Inappropriately? |

Hey, finally a bipartisan vote. We should all be happy about this. |
||
| vernonFL Can we get another source? I have a hard time trusting CNN. Their shiat is wack. |

Wow, only took 1 post for the drone to move the posts. Fast, but not as fast as Suddenlink |

So this rises to the level of doing something for the first time in history? Are they freaking kidding? I'll give them this, they've got balls. |

Fark yes! I'm glad to see some justice coming from this. As well as more media attention. I anxiously await more. More people need to know about this. |

But first, let's break down what the House voted to do, exactly. One, the House today authorized criminal charges to be filed against Holder. But the decision to file criminal charges is left up to Ronald Machen, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia - who answers to Holder. (Machen is also an Obama administration appointee.) The chances of Machen filing charges against his boss? Around zilch. And even then, the administration has sent the documents down the memory hole, meaning Holder is immune from prosecution. |
||
| Gyrfalcon Oo, how scary. They're going to waste more of our time investigating Holder over an issue already proven to be dead, since it's been determined the Department did nothing wrong in "Fast & Furious". I mean nothing ILLEGAL. But let's keep flogging that pollo. |

It's a tax subby. |

"Excuse us Mr. Holder, may we have your permission to hold you in contempt? No? Okay, we'll just go back to our corner then." |

meat0918: Don't they now ask the AG's office to investigate Holder? Yup. This is a pointless symbolic gesture. vernonFL: Can we get another source? I have a hard time trusting CNN. Their shiat is wack. Plenty of other sources in the queue, but here's MSNBC. |

And on such a slow news day this will be sure to top the headlines. |

FTA - "A large number of Democrats -- including members of the Congressional Black Caucus and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi -- walked off the House floor in protest and refused to participate in the vote." Naturally... looked like a Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton "we shall overcome" kind of parade. Always good for some laughs. |

I like how this happened on the same day as the health care ruling. No one is going to remember any of it now. |

They are starting to look very petty. *they have been petty for the last 3 years, but now it is really starting to show |

Between giving free guns to gangsters and locking up cancer patients, I don't see why anyone would possibly hate this wonderful man. |

You are NOT above the law asswipe! |

This is the approved headline for the US Attorney General being held in criminal contempt?! |
||
| SnakeLee House members are also expected to pass a civil contempt measure Thursday afternoon. The civil measure would allow the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to file a lawsuit asking the courts to examine the Justice Department's failure to produce certain subpoenaed documents, as well as the validity of the administration's recent assertion of executive privilege over the documents in question. This is going to blow up in the Republicans faces so bad. They should just leave it alone now if they had any sense, but of course they will have an independent judge review all the documents and embarrass them right before the election. |

Yakk: And on such a slow news day this will be sure to top the headlines. Why do you think Boehner scheduled it for today? Even the house leadership thinks that this crap is moronic, and they wanted to hide it in all the SCOTUS fallout. |
||
| Emposter
This is most assuredly 110% politically motivated. There can be little doubt of it. However, for once the Republicans in Congress are correct. You don't get to ignore a subpoena because you think it's politically motivated. |

90% (or there abouts) of the country has contempt for Congress, according to recent polls. I guess we're all lawbreakers. |

I'm surprised, given the way the day is going, they didn't try to just kill Holder. They need something to cling to. |

Maybe he'll catch that rare, communicable case of Alzheimer's that went around Gonzo's office. That seemed to be enough to get Congress off his back, at least the R's anyway. I don't recall... I don't remember... I don't recall... I don't recall... I don't remember... |
