Rupert Everett, though he's not a leading guy anymore. Also there are so many great directors that are gay that I don't think Hollywood would have an issue casting a gay actor if they could draw people to the theater. Either way I'll be happy when we can get to the point where people don't feel like they have to declare their sexual orientation to the public.

I think it's probably going to be some hockey player before an individual sport. Honestly, I suspect the only reason no hockey player has come out yet is because the hockey culture is so team-oriented that nobody wants to be the first person to come out and draw all of the attention to themselves rather than the team. If somebody could figure out a way to come out without it becoming a massive media event that overshadowed the team I think it would have happened already.

I think this is a good move that goes beyond just her. It provides a famous precedent for for others who may be a bit more scared about it. It's less, I think, for Rapinoe and more for the girls who look up to her and are gay, but have been frightened to admit it to their parents. At least that's my take on it, I could be wrong.

Being forced to live a life you don't want to lead due to bullying and intimidation is an issue. If it means living a closeted life you don't want to lead, that's horrible. If it means living an outed life you don't want to lead, that's horrible, too.
