We interrupt your Danica Patrick fixation to direct you attention to the NHRA, where women actually win races,

I thought this was just a meme, until I happened to catch ESPN covering a race she was in. It was...desperate, like the entire station has their retirement riding on her becoming popular or winning.

When you think turning left is boring, how about not turning at all?

-1 on Subby...

Danica Patrick actually has won a race....in a series that people actually know about and watch (compared to drag racing)

Also, if subster knew anything about drag racing....he would know that the Force sisters are more successful in Funny Car, and, are quite hittable. Better not say that too loud, because their dad will run your ass down (John Force is the Michael Jordan of Funny Car). Genetics did help the Force sisters

Not sure why all the trashing of Danica Patrick. I find usually it comes from those who want all females in sports to be lesbians

It's more likely that those people don't just want all females in sports to be lesbians, they want 'em to be HOT lesbians with huge knockers.

And Courtney made the finals, but didn't win. She came close. She still very young and more like her father than Ashley (very animated).

Ashley's hot, but she was always a bit too reserved for me (if I was her sponsor that is).

I watch whenever it's on; been to several local NHRA events.

If I can get my finances in order this year I'd love to go to Pomona.

NOBODY goes across the finish line upside down, backwards, and ON FIRE better than John Force.

NOBODY.

And yes, his daughters are very, very hittable. Sadly, he's looking (and, god help us, acting) more and more like Gary Busey's retarded little brother every day now...

Back in the day, I used to babysit a kid who raced junior dragsters (yes, they start 'em really young in racing) who would complain regularly about how he'd always come in second to the youngest Force girl at every race.

She's ugly and flat. She has a six-head and I'd imagine her honker is big, it looks big straight on, so I'm guessing profile it's even worse.

Don't know much about it, but I would assume that mashing the gas pedal and working your way through a couple gears in a drag race that lasts four seconds against one other competitor on a course that is a straight line, is just a liiiiiiiittle bit easier to win than a 3 hour race on an oval or road course against 30 to 40 other drivers.

Well, I'm convinced. Having to hit your marks and be better than one other person for a few seconds in a straight line is clearly more difficult than working the draft at Daytona for 3 hours with 40+ cars, or completing 500 miles at Indianapolis in an open wheel car against 32 other cars. And don't even get me started on how easy road course racing is. God knows that every drag racer is probably thinking, "Man, I wish I was racing the piece-of-cake 12 turn, 2.22 mile course at Sonoma right now, rather than this drag strip, which just ended in the time it took me to think this sentence. This shiat is difficult."

I'd hit every one of them, even if it meant it had to include Brad Garrett.

DancingElkCondor: Not sure why all the trashing of Danica Patrick.

It's because that, while she is a just a mid-pack to back-of-the-pack racer, she's treated as if she is a champion. She's not. It's the same reason a lot of people don't like Dale Earnhardt Jr. After seeing the way that most drivers have to work really hard to get started in the sport, it's frustrating to see someone who hasn't paid their dues getting preferential treatment, just because they happen to have the right last name, or a set of boobs.

That said, NASCAR is a business. Hiring Little E or Danica is a very smart business decision as they are profitable drivers even when they're not winning. Danica brings the GoDaddy sponsorship with her, so she is, essentially, a risk-free investment. Same with Junior. He comes with built-in sponsorship, and can sell the hell out of merchandise.

Danica is the most over-exposed athlete in the world. Dale Earnhardt Jr, who was actually pretty good at one point in his career, looks down at her in shame for the fame she's received.

Gotta love the Danica white knighting. There's always a group ready to defend her. She won one race thanks to fuel mileage. But for that she's won exactly nothing. Could I do that? Nope. Could a ton of other drivers who will never get the chance due to appearance? Yup.

Congrats to Erica Enders.

It's two different skill sets. In NASCAR, you're behind the wheel of a 700HP car in gawdawful heat for 3+ hours, making sure you can hold the car to the fastest line on the track and you have 42 other drivers trying to do the same thing. NASCAR is more like running a marathon.

In NHRA, you have to have very good reflexes in order to hit your start right, you have to make yours shifts perfectly, you have to compensate for track surface changes at about 600 feet and it's very difficult to use the power of the car to compensate for a bad start. It's much like running the 100 meter dash.

Both are track events, but take different skill sets in order for racers to be champions. Does that make sense now?
