| jaylectricity The driver took the weed because he can't get through his job without sparking up an owl every hour on the hour? |

| Diogenes jaylectricity: The driver took the weed because he can't get through his job without sparking up an owl every hour on the hour? Seriously. I've never tried to pay in weed. But I've had a few cabbies offer me hits. |
||
| ZAZ When officers arrived, Bruckner admitted offering the driver weed to pay is fare. When asked about the $9 he still owed the driver, Bruckner forked over $5 and said that was all he had, according to the report. $4 worth of ass could have sealed the deal without police involvement and completed the no free rides trifecta. |

Meh, I drove a cab and got paid in a variety of substances. I viewed it as a job perk. |

I've had multiple cabbies offer me hookers and drugs, so I don't really see this as all that outrageous. One cabbie in Columbus Georgia even had a photo album with pictures of all the hos he was pimping out- or is it "hoes"? well, regardless, he had nude pictures of at least 8 or 9 women, some in the act of giving blowjobs. I don't know if this sort of thing is normal or I just look like a really shady character, but in any case I think most cabbies would either accept the weed or insist on payment in cash, but actually calling the police is probably rare for something like this. |

"Officers charged Bruckner with drug abuse." That's a charge? What does that mean? He gave the weed a black eye? |
||
| Sline
every cab driver i've had in columbus, ohio on a weekend has been high. they'll often say something like "woo, do you smell that? the last fare i had, they were stoned out of their minds," gauge your reaction, and then pull out a blunt. |

Let's vote: Is that one a mistake on the part of: a) clueless cops? b) clueless reporter? There's no way that's a real charge for simply being in possession of a small amount of weed. |

i used to work at a high-end department store in my youth, and once allowed some thuggish patrons to put some extra clothing in their shopping bag after throwing a bunch of nickel bags over the counter.... Do i regret it? No, not really. First time (and last) that i even ever saw a nickel bag.... it was like cute-looking. |

that cabbie sounds like an asshole. I've paid for cab rides with weed more than once. Usually only after discussing weed with the driver, though. and in new york. new york cabbies are a different breed I guess. |

I'm pretty sure the cabbies around here would accept weed, coke, meth or alcohol judging by the looks of some of them. /Have tipped the pizza guy with joints/bong hits |

When I was a teenager I delivered pizza for a short time... I considered a few bong hits to be a great tip. I never did get the action that I have seen in a few pornos, but then again, I am kinda ugly. |

Dirtybird971: Wait. He got charged with "drug abuse"? Was the bag "light"? How was he abusing drugs? I agree, even if you are against people smoking weed, bartering it has no effect on the health of the recipient. |

FTA: Jacob Bruckner, 38, of Massillon, racked up a $24 cab fare [...] Bruckner went into the hotel and came back out with $15 and a little bag of marijuana OK, let's see...[does the math]...what did the cops do with the $4.50 worth of marijuana? |
||
| KrispyKritter highrye: Meh, I drove a cab and got paid in a variety of substances. I viewed it as a job perk. bingo! the world needs more folks like you. cabs deal with people on the street. a good cabbie is flexible and knows many ways to earn a large tip. |

It depends on if they are working for a company that owns the cabs or if they are leasing the cabs. If they lease, once they make back the money that costs they can get pretty creative when it comes to compensation. If they are just being payed by the hour, they have to account for every fare and it would be pretty standard to call the cops on someone without cash. |
