| bdub77 Food restrictions have been lifted too! Leaves, cardboard, and wood are now recommended as part of a "high fiber alternative diet." |

| beantowndog In other news, you have had enough to eat. |

My wife swears traditional men make women wear dresses and skirts not for modesty, but for easier access. |

Hahaha fatso legalizes hamburgers. Classic. |

| Jocundry Lafcadio: My wife swears traditional men make women wear dresses and skirts not for modesty, but for easier access. I feel the same way. Pants cover you up more and make it harder to get a quickie in. Skirts are...well just lift and go. |

"If caught, sometimes they would cut your pants right there in public to make it into a skirt," Park Ye-Kyong, who defected to South Korea in 2004, told ABC News. Those barbarians. /not trying to imply NK isn't a horrible country, just thought that was funny. |

New Great Leader seems to be taking to his role like a duck to water. This may be a slight overstatement, but we may be looking at the next FDR. |

Best Korea is going FTFY Subby Who knows, maybe soon they'll get other 20th century woders like email and color TV. You think it was coincidence that women were not allowed underwear until the bicycle became popular? |

Heading on vacation to North Korea tomorrow morning. I was talking to Kim Jong-un about relaxing the dress code for my visit so I'm happy to see that he has obliged. I think on Friday we're renting a couple of jet skis and spending the day drinking beer on the lake if NK farkers would like to join us. |

Pity. Skirts are funner. /biased |

Kim apparently allows people to nosh on previously outlawed food, such as burgers and fries I hope so - those are his father's legacy. In 2000, a new food "invented" by Kim Jong-il called "Gogigyeopbbang" was introduced to North Koreans. It was described as "double bread with meat", but took on the uncanny appearance of a conventional hamburger. |

Lets cut the crap here. This is a rehash of a story two days old out of Seoul. Women "allowed" to wear pants and platform shoes. Sorry folks, this was not done under the new dynamic "young General," it was done years ago. I took this photo in August of last year in Pyongyang while the Dear Leader was quite alive. I have seen pants on women all over the country, west coast, east coast and villages in between. ![]() A defector from 2004 is not someone who knows what is going on now, particularly if they are in the ROK. Amazing changes? I have witnessed the changes over the last five years and the press is a bit slow on this stuff. Baked goods are more plentiful but that is not a Kim Jong-un policy change. Change in the DPRK is measured in very small steps. Just because the press notices it does not mean there is a causal link between Kim Jong-un (A) and the change (B). Most anyone going to the DPRK is clueless. "Wow, look, I have not see this before, it must be new!" Cell phones, mentioned in other articles, are commonplace now. In 2009 they were very rare. This does not change the fact that those in the small villages get none of this stuff including steady food supplies, electricity and consumer goods. |

Seriously? Making women wear skirts was really the only thing NK did that I wish the rest of the world adopted. Why do women want to wear pants anyways? Don't they enjoy being able to dress/undress quickly? It's not like men will respect them more either. We will just tell them they look better in skirts, and tell them the only pants they are allowed to wear are yoga pants. |

sad part is NK is still a good generation or two more advance than most middle eastern countries. |

The first time I saw Kim Jong-un I thought to myself. This is the kind of guy that can finally bring fast food to North Korea. \I thought a greyhound was Korean fast food. Zinnggggg. |

This is so weird, because if the internet has taught me anything, and it has, it's that Asian women cannot keep their clothes on. I had no idea Korean women + pants could be a thing. I don't know how to feel. |

SuperNinjaToad: sad part is NK is still a good generation or two more advance than most middle eastern countries. True. Which is why we need to get away from using so much goddamn oil. We put up with their shiatting on women and burkas because we want to drain their oil before we drain ours. Once they have nothing to offer us, we will economically sanction the shiat out of them until all their women can dress like Jasmine from Alladin. That SHOULD be the plan at least. |

SuperNinjaToad: sad part is NK is still a good generation or two more advance than most middle eastern countries. I think you're generally "allowed" to wear pants in those places. But if you are raped by a crowd of random men, the police will just shrug and say you were probably a prostitute, I mean, look how you were dressed. /but let's not get all high and mighty, the same defense was regularly working here up until the 80's or so. |

Lafcadio: My wife swears traditional men make women wear dresses and skirts not for modesty, but for easier access. Men don't "make" women do that. It's women who decide to do that, and they do it because they want men to get easy access. After a year of going out with my first girlfriend, I worked out that she wore jeans on her time of the month. I once had a discussion with some guys over beers and we all said that our girlfriends/wives had cut down wearing garter belts after a few years - they're not only sexier to look at, you can also get access faster. I guarantee there's a strong correlation between how often those are worn and how often a woman gets nailed. |

She looks like a Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man turned upside down. The platform shoes are what really clues you in to the fact that you're not in Kansas anymore, though. I mean it's basically Western business attire above the waist, then you say "ok so she didn't have time to have her pants tailored, how odd" then "WTF, platform shoes??" Of course that's surely a Kim Jong Il thing, who was short and self-conscious of that fact, probably thought the entire nation needed to be taller (overall, the population is somewhat stunted due to malnutrition). But why they handed out platform shoes instead of high heels is a mystery- probably more cost-effective to be gender-neutral. |

[www.squidmobile.com image 307x200] I didn't say 'let them have pockets!' I said, 'get me more Hot Pockets!' I finally figured it out. In that pic, Li'l Kim looks like that woman in the radiator in the movie ERASERHEAD. |

| edmo volodya: Just because the press notices it does not mean there is a causal link between Kim Jong-un (A) and the change (B). Most anyone going to the DPRK is clueless I think you are confusing a clueless press with a savvy state propaganda machine putting out new and improved BS to build up it's young, inexperienced, and unknown leader and thereby solidify the mythology behind him. But as you says, nothing new there. |
