So he is a big of a dick off the field as he is on the sideline? I hope they lose every game.

Makes me wonder if there was some bounty in place for "hitting it". Women generally don't like that, especially the ones in Westlake.

You would think a marriage that grounds its basis around the idea that their husband is away from home for long stretches of time, while simultaneously providing an enormous nest egg in which to live with to pay for your every little whimsy would be solid as hell.

I mean, it's not like he's leaving the toilet seat up and calling her mother a whore.

Bingo. After watching the videos of Harper and Fujita'shiats on Steve Smith I have no sympathy for anything that happens to those involved. Brees needs to STHU too.

The Fujita hit was away from the ball at the goal line and the Harper hit was head first to Smith's ear hole a yard deep in the end zone after a touchdown. Anyone know it those happened in the same game?

The infamous Fujita cheap shot is from 2006. I can't blame that one on the bounties, just on Fujita being a dirty as hell player.

Harper's cheap shot was from this past season.

I youtube'd "NFL Cheap Shots" and have come to the determination that there are apparently a lot of teams running bounty systems. And a lot of dirty as hell players.

As you sow so shall you reap. Other teams could be running a bounty system, but have they been warned and then found to be continuing it? Did they have a coach on tape saying kill the head or take out his ACL?

What's next, taking out a player in warm up or accidentally hitting a player or coach on the sideline?

A coach being an overblown jackass does not translate to deliberate attempts to injure, as shown on the field the next day. But that's the inconvenient part for those who like to deal in possibilities and maybes and overheated nonsense like "what's next, taking out a player in warmups?!?"

The best part of all this is listening to the guy yell about injuring all the Niners, and then having the Niners knock out a bunch of Saints.

I just Youtube'd "Keith Brooking Pre-Game speech".

"We're gonna hit 'em in the mouth! We're gonna bloody their nose! We're gonna knock 'em to the ground!" seems OK to me, as long as you don't go out there and actually try to intentionally hit 'em in the the mouth and bloody their nose.

"Rip off their heads and shiat down their necks" is fine, too, again, as long as you don't actually go out there and try to shiat down someone's neck.

But dammit, man, I draw the imaginary line of mock outrage at "tear his ACL", because, yea, you know, someone might actually go out there and do that. (Well, except no one did...)

Also hilarious: hearing the Niners brag the very next week about trying to knock Eli Manning out of the game, and getting away scott free.

Your point, I see it. I also agree with the folks above that the larger issue for the NFL is the assload of plaintiffs present and future.

What is your opinion about the Fujita and Harper hits on Steve Smith I referred to above? I'm not a Panthers fanboy by the way, I have no team since I fired the Raiders over the Kiffin/Russel BS and I have lost interest in the Titans since Fisher left.

I like good, hard hitting football, but I'm not blinded by team loyalty like some of the fans out there thinking the Saints are getting screwed.

knbwhite: What is your opinion about the Fujita and Harper hits on Steve Smith I referred to above?

Fujita took a low shot, a shot that caused no injury, and Harper losing his cool with a division rival's star with a shove, also that caused no injury? Both obviously regrettable, but nothing major. There's clearly no love lost between the Saints and Steve Smith due to mutual jawjacking before every game they've ever had against one another. As previously mentioned, the former predates the investigation window and the other was Harper being an idiot by shoving someone down. Now really, Harper was trying to get a bounty by shoving Smith down in the endzone? I'll probably regret this, but I doubt even the most wildeyed hang 'em high person would think that was trying to cause injury. FFS, Smith even did his TD dance immediately after, lol. It was needless crap and Harper shouldn't have done it, but it's a stretch to think that push was intended to injure anybody. Hope he keeps his cool a lot better in the future.

knbwhite: but I'm not blinded by team loyalty like some of the fans out there thinking the Saints are getting screwed.

I would hope you're not creating a premise that only Saints fans have been saying they've gotten a raw deal, because it's not the case.

Robsul82, I just watched this clip again, and that's not just a shove. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWXWawd Xy7Q&feature=related Harper does appear to pull up a bit, but he went in head first right in Smiths earhole. Fujita seemed to not go full speed either, but the angle he took to Smith's leg is suspicious.

The most rabid response I have gotten on a different Fark Saints thread came from FARKU, who was sniffing Payton's sack earlier in this thread.

As far as the Saints getting a raw deal, I think the league is in a tough spot. If they show everything they have, there is more evidence for the plaintiffs in present and future lawsuits, as well as the problem of outing the "snitches"

Dude, he shoved him down, lol. I watched it myself to make sure I wasn't misremembering it, and yeah, Harper blew his top with a late shove. Their heads came together, obviously, but no bells were rung and the brunt of it is really Harper's arms shoving him down.

gridironfans.com

4.bp.blogspot.com

I didn't say it wasn't rough, but there's no way you can say that was to injure somebody, or was it an accident Smith is grinning and dancing afterwards? It's just Harper being a baby about Smith smoking his team. Fujita'shiat was cheapie bullshiat I wouldn't like if it were against my team, but there's much easier ways to annihilate someone's knee. And yeah, rule #1 is you don't pull up if you're trying to injure somebody, in both cases.

I know you didn't ask me, but if you had, my reply would be this:

The hits on Steve Smith are no better or no worse than any late, dirty or otherwise illegal hits made by any other player on any other team.

Since you're not a Panthers fan, you may not have heard about this. Do me a favor - go to youtube.com and do a search on "Dante Wesley".

I challenge you to find me ANY team that didn't have a single roughing the passer, late hit, or unsportsmanlike conduct call all of last season. Youtube likely has video of all of them.

Shoot, I forgot what point we're making. What was it again? That football is a tough sport?

Yeah, I probably should've made that point myself. Like I said, Fujita's low bridge was cheapie bullshiat, but no more egregious than what you'd see on Sundays around the sport, and just because the Saints have occasionally been flagged for RTP or unsportsmanlike conduct doesn't mean they were out to injure people, as every team obviously gets their share of those. Many teams more than the Saints, which only goes back to an earlier point I didn't neglect to make, lol, a decidedly inconvenient one for the firebreathers and crusaders.
