With all those kids she needed some alone time and a few drinks, who can blame her?
Hopefully she wasn't out getting knocked up again.

19 children with no supervision? I have to ask. Where were the Social workers from the Department for Health and Family Services (besides her behavior)? No flags with her?

19 children.. very sad

So when Sheriff Joe Arpaio leaves innocent people* to sweat, it's okay. But when this lady does it, 19 felonies?

* Tent City is a jail, where you go before trial. We are innocent until proven guilty, in theory.

I've yet to hear a single story about Joe Arpaio abandoning 19 children, aged 8 farking months to 14 years old with no AC or food. Plus, for the Farkers: There were animals involved.

OOH. Temps in excess of 90 degrees....

Have we as a nation really become such pansy asses?

Having kids in 90-degree weather isn't child abuse.

When combined with a week of zero supervision (and zero parental support), it adds to what is already INHUMAN CHILD ABUSE.

You also go to jail to serve your sentence after you have been tried and convicted.

Was it octomom? She's got about 20 kids.

/ 32? Either someone has been knocked up constantly since 13 or there's some twins in there!

If they are innocent until proven guilty, what the F*ck does their age matter?

Mandatory sterilization.

Yes it's too late to prevent it from happening in the first place, but we can at least keep it from getting any worse.

"When deputies arrived, they found 19 children ranging from 8 months to 14 years old with no supervision, no working air conditioning or food."

I am absolutely not defending her, nor am I saying this is right, but since when is A/C considered absolutely necessary to survival? Water to drink, shade, maybe a basement or pool/pond/river/creek/shower, etc, sure, but A/C?

Go back probably 10-20 years, and it wasn't exactly standard for most Americans, even. I certainly didn't grow up with it, although I acknowledge in NY it wasn't really necessary most summers. Even then, I doubt the majority of southerners had it till recent years.

It's generally frowned upon to leave children unsupervised like that. Also, it's apparently considered improper to go up to the new girl in your office and routinely cup a fist to one side of your mouth while poking the inside of your other cheek with your tongue, as I learned last week. Does HR honestly think I'm going to ask her for one out loud? God that's uncouth.

No, then you go to prison, or the penitentiary. Jail (gaol for those across the Pond) is the holding pen for persons awaiting trial and judgement.

Usually prison is reserved for people serving a sentence of a year or more. Not sure about how they do it in Arizona but that's usually the case in most places.

We get it; nobody likes joe arpaio. Tents also get hot. He uses tents to house people. You guys are missing the big picture; he's only one man, the problem is bigger than one man.

/ you can see the problem from my ocean front property in Arizona

// he may be quite a bastard; but, joe arpaio can only get you if you go to arizona. If you don't like joe arpaio; all you have to do is not go to Arizona.

somehow you jumped to the conclusion that it is. it's just a detail in the write-up. combined with 90 degree weather it just adds to the neglect charges. this was all over our local news tonight, something the article forgot was that she was contacted while returning from Chicago and it was mentioned she was out of town for a "family emergency". Im guessing ill get more details tomorrow.

It was emphasized enough to be a detail in the write-up. I don't consider that jumping to a conclusion. It's not like I used a mat, or something...

also, FTA: Authorities said Farah is the biological mother of some of the children involved and had asked neighbors to check on the children while she left.

it helps to read the whole thing once in a while.

the phrase "absolutely necessary for survival" sounds like a conclusion in context of details regarding neglect charges involving children.

19? She's got enough for a cult. Or a sports team.

Hopefully they get the mom far enough away from men to prevent any more offspring.

It seems some of the kids are hers, some are her boyfriend's, and possibly some are " theirs." The 21 of them were living in a 3 bedroom home with nine dogs and a cat.

There's just no way that could be pretty. Or healthy.

You doubt that the majority of Southerners had AC until recent years? What farking century/decade do you live in? Is it your assumption that we wear straw hats, f*ck cousins and run around barefoot as well?

I'm from Tennessee and 37 years old and I can not think of one instance of not having AC. I can't remember going anywhere that DIDN'T have AC accept maybe the most rural parts of the south and those places had fans.

Nice new 3 br / 2-bath houses in small Southern towns were being built with central air conditioning literally 50 years ago. I grew up in one.

And if you didn't have a new house, you stuck a window unit in an old one. Man, that was frosty.
