| gopher321 when the paramedic who flew in to rescue him last week was struck in the head by a helicopter blade. That'll ruin your whole day. /how Romero-esque |
||
| Nadie_AZ Henderson turned off the helicopter's rotor blade when they landed. Stanley got out, but stayed close to the chopper. "The blade was slowing, but it was still moving," CHP spokesman Lt. Scott Fredrick told msnbc.com. As the rotors slowed, the blade sagged, and slammed Stanley in the back of the head. He collapsed, unconscious, instantly. Blood was coming from his shattered skull. I'm cringing at this. |

He better watch out, those things don't like to leave their prey alive. |

Big Bear Lake is east of Los Angeles. The helicopter ride to Redding (northern Ca.) took 40 minutes. That's one fast whirrly bird !! / Head and Shoulders. |

CrispFlows: Damn. I hope Officer Stanley didn't have any permanent damage from this :-/ They don't mention his status in the article, but from another one: "The CHP has declined to reveal his condition, but Kilburn said on the flight over, Stanley gave him a thumbs up. He is hopeful Stanley will make a full recovery." |

Wow. He's lucky he still has his head. |

BronyMedic: Wow. He's lucky he still has his head. I know. And judging from the article still is conscious and is somewhat lucid. A goddamn miracle. Of course he had a combat surgeon right there and then so that probably why he's still alive. |

NE of Lassen Peak. Some killer hikes (figuratively and nearly literally in the article) in that area. 40 31.5N, 121 24.0W |

This is a reminder that those who sacked those responsible for sacking those who were sacked, have been sacked. |

JesseL: gopher321: That'll ruin your whole day. [wemeantwell.com image 358x457] Agrees with your assessment. John Landis is talented, but he probably should've been found guilty on that manslaughter charge. |

BronyMedic: Wow. He's lucky he still has his head. He's even luckier he was rescuing a trauma surgeon. |

I gotta hope and imagine that Officer Stanley was wearing a helmet of some sort when that happened. Even so, yeesh. *shudder* |

Groink: I gotta hope and imagine that Officer Stanley was wearing a helmet of some sort when that happened. Even so, yeesh. *shudder* A helmet won't help you if those blades strike you while they're in rotation. They are designed to be very aerodynamic with their leading edges, and spin at hundreds of RPM at high torque. davidphogan: He's even luckier he was rescuing a trauma surgeon. True. True. |
