Boy would he look good in a spoked B |
||
| Jubeebee Teemu Selanne is a cyborg whose creators realized that their initial beta test in 92-93 caught too much attention and so focused their efforts into longevity instead of burning out the unit with their planned 3 consecutive 100 goal seasons. The experiment is now entering its 20th year and has begun to attract attention again, and are debating whether another 30 goal season would arouse undue suspicion before they confirm that the unit will play next year. |

Or, maybe this years free agent crop is so shiatty, that players like Zach Parise and Ryan Suter were considered the cream of it? Holmstrom cant find his way to the rink now that Lidstrom is gone; he needs to hang them up with dignity and hobble away from the game with his 4 rings glittering in the sunset of a great career. Dont tarnish that by signing up somewhere else to miss 40+ games and play 4 minutes in the few he isnt a healthy scratch for. |

60 some points and near 30 goals last season.... I could see him being wanted by a few teams for a 1-2 year contract. |

Not like Finish players' names. What's a Teemu anyway? |
||
| Mr_Ectomy We'll take him on the Oilers (if the price is right) |

Teemu is only going to sign in Anahiem or possibly Winnipeg if anywhere. |

Still too young for the Red Wings. /obsessed Red Wings fan |

I thought he resigned with the ducks already. |

It's been announced he's signed a 1-year deal with the Ducks today. |

It's been a lame year for free agents. Who was the sought after guy this year? Nash? Parise? Who cares? |

Bondith: Not like Finish players' names. What's a Teemu anyway? I dunno. What's a Bondith? MysticSavage: It's been announced he's signed a 1-year deal with the Ducks today. As it should be. I don't think there was much chance of him signing elsewhere. It was either another season in Anaheim or winter in Helsinki. |

MysticSavage: It's been announced he's signed a 1-year deal with the Ducks today. Hopefully he can keep putting up numbers and feels like sticking around to get 700 goals becuase it'll be a long time before we see another 700+ goal career in the NHL. |

I kinda like this short film the Ducks made about the moment he decided to come back: Link /Look how thick that stack of TPS reports is..! |

Something fishy about a guy who I played on an EA NHL '94 Sega Genesis game that's still in the league. Don't think I'm not keeping an eye on Hamrlik and Jagr too. |
||
| dallylamma
Stamkos is a great scorer but he'll need 12 more seasons of 45 goals or more to get to 700. Basically he'll have to play 16 years without a drop-off in production unless he can pull off a Messier and play for 25 years. |

You want to talk about cyborgs, Hamr has been up near the top in blocked shots for like the last ten years. Man must have shins of steel. |

Yeah, you need to be on a team that reaches the playoffs regularly so you can pad those totals as well. Regular season only, Selanne has 663 regular season but 37 playoff goals. This will be his 20th year in the league. Ovechkin is just over halfway there after 7 years (369), but the last two years he's dropped to around 40 goals per season+playoffs. So he'll need another 8-9 years at current production. Assuming he drops down again to the 30 goal per season range (where Selanne is) then he's going to need another few years on top of that. If Ovie has a 20 year career, then I think he'll be able to hit the mark. Stamkos is only at 185 after 4 years. The next few years will help determine whether he has a shot or not. To get to 350 after 7 years he's got to average 55 goals per year for the next 3 years which is asking a lot... |

True, and he'd most likely already have 700+ if he hadn't spent three seasons in the KHL. Jagr had 19 last year, we'll have to see if he has two more NHL seasons in him. |

| Recoil Therapy It's been announced that he's signed another 1 year deal with the Ducks ($4.5 million) & I am so happy. As a long time Ducks fan this just makes my day (week/month/?). I'm so glad that he's coming back for (at least) one more year as he's got so much more to be able to contribute. Last season he was #8 in the NHL in scoring at age 41, just absolutely incredible. One huge season this year (although realistically it would probably take two) & he's solidly into the top 10 of all time scoring. The same big two year run would also see him at 700+ goals (possibly even this year as he's at 663) & 1500 points (currently 1406). One can only hope that he stays healthy & the Ducks do reasonably well so that he's still having fun playing. As far as him going anywhere else (what I would have said before the announcement), not going to happen unless it was the extremely small chance of going to the Jets. He's put down roots in Orange County & doesn't want to leave. It's pretty much play for the Ducks or hang up the skates (& hang #8 from the rafters shortly thereafter). /have I mentioned that I'm happy yet? |

I just read some rumor-mongering crap that suggested Hasek wants to play 1 year in Buffalo (as a backup) and then retire as a Sabre. Extremely unlikely, but an amusing idea just the same. |

Eklund is saying that both sides want to play next year under the current cba and wait until next year to do battle. Since it's Eklund, that means the opposite will happen and we'll lose thr whole year. |
||
| swahnhennessy
Ignoring the Eklund part, extending the current CBA one more season makes sense. It gives the league time to figure out what will happen to Phoenix, allowing them to bring up realignment in the talks, and use the Olympics as a bargaining chip, if needed. They could do the latter now, of course, but it'd carry more weight in a year. Either way, I'm not too worried about it - now or next year. The owners will try to cut back the players' percentage with the excuse that some clubs needs more revenue to compete in the league, but I don't see that as being an issue that leads to a lockout. The players would probably give up a little revenue (while still retaining over 50%) in order to avoid the contraction that will be threatened. In return they'll get a promise that Pierre McGuire won't be standing between the benches creeping them out anymore. Win-win. |
||

jekostas: Not true. Apparently Hasek was asking for a multi-year deal. Bwahaha! I'm sure Enroth would be just fine with that bit of insanity. Would his contract stipulate that the goalie bottle be filled with the proper amount of Geritol? |

"Just the fact that the career Jet/Coyote is still on the market shows maybe the Coyotes' management have totally lost their minds" I really wish he'd cut ties. There's 29 teams that would take him, and my team isn't going to have a shot as long as he's sitting on that fence. I know you don't want to uproot your family, but what's the point of having a full career with one organization if nobody's going to remember you (no offense 'yotes fans). It's not like he's a Stevie Y or Mario Lemieux. They're not going to build a new promenade and name it after you in the new arena (yeah right) after you retire. You'll just be down in some book as Shane Doan, the (Stanley) Cupless guy who gave all, but didn't quite get it all back. |
||
| gas giant
Doaner is a a franchise man who would never have considered leaving if it wasn't for the petition that just went to vote.. That petition failed today and it looks like the 'Yotes have given themselves another season of existence, and with that, it's been reported Doan has already resigned. /Ontario Asshole is probably having kittens |

Sweet the Avs dumped Peter Mueller's worthless ass. That means he and Porter are now gone, so the Avs trading their top scorer two years ago for both those players netted them absolutely nothing. |

Look I get that he wants to stay loyal but that whole franchise is teetering on complete collapse. A bad start to the season and Doan will wind up the hardest working guy in bankruptcy court. |

Sadly, us hockey deprived suckers wanted it to be true so badly, that he gained enough fame to turn into the piece of shiat he is today. |

el_loco_avs: Porter had the most goals after that trade >_ No he didn't. Porter's 21 to Wolski's 25 Plus, since assists help score goals, the overall numbers are Porter's 21G 15A, 36 points. Wolski is 25G 45A, 70 points. More goals and almost double the points. |
||
| swahnhennessy
Wait - are you upset about trading Wolski? |
