I'm OK with the statue staying up, but only if it's altered somehow to mark the true nature of the man. Maybe add three monkeys perched on his shoulders and head, covering his eyes, ears, and mouth to reflect his deliberate decision to see, hear, and speak nothing about what he knew. Or maybe chisel a naked little boy over his shoulder with a ribbon around his chest that says "for jerry." Or maybe even something simpler, a sign in his hand that says "child rape is the cost of good football." Because we don't want to lose sight of the fact that the man, you know, did some good things for the college, won some games and taught a lot of players and alumnae that honor is important. We don't want to lose sight of that in the face of recent scandal, and the man deserves his legacy.
