I hope Briana Marshall has a difficult time finding jobs after she graduates. |
||
| a21ozcoldcup So is this before or after a visit to the Creamery? I grew up near Penn State, lived there for a while (didn't attend). It always impressed me how brainwashed the kids there were with regards to JoePa. Even more annoying is that so many of them continue to defend him. All the sympathy in the world for a guy that covered up for a pedophile but none for the children that were raped. Stay classy, friends... |

| Marcus Aurelius Penn State is a religion to some people. Blame it on their parents. My father practically worshiped the ground JoePa walked on, and I doubt any amount of evidence to the contrary would have swayed his opinion. |

Marcus Aurelius: Penn State is a religion to some people. Blame it on their parents. These people are adults. I will lay the blame where it belongs. |

I know quite a few adults that are still clinging to the JoePa fantasy. Half the people in my graduating class went to Penn State, their parents had gone to Penn State, and their kids went to Penn State too. Like I said, it's a religion. Did all the Catholics leave the church after their pedo scandal? Some did, but most stayed. |

Yes, and as those Catholics are grown adults as well, I'll look to them as being disgusting when the scandal swings back around to their indiscretions with children. Right now though, the focus is on Penn State. |

| a21ozcoldcup Yeah when they rallied around the house shortly after the news broke and they fired JoePa... it made me sick to watch. A bunch of kids cheering. Yes we didn't know yet for sure that JoePa was involved but we did know for sure that a lot of kids were molested and you are cheering someone who is suspected of protecting the molester? Wow... just blew me away ... and validated everything I ever thought about Penn State's culture. I should add that I found Briana's Facebook page, if this gets greenlit someone should so send her a link to it... |

So therefore figures of authority in the church were also involved in this coverup and Sarah Palin is now president for life? This rabbit hole has gotten quite deep. |

| Ranger Joe I work with a guy like this....and he didn't even go to Ped State. It's fun to tweak him every once in a while..."Yeah, well, thank god nobody got any tattoos, right?" |
||
| a21ozcoldcup There are some similarities with the Catholic church. The nature of the crime, the coverup... but one thing I don't see are Catholics that defend the priests and church. Every Catholic I know is apologetic for what happened... Penn State alum and fans? Not so much. |

JoPa was a good coach, but in light of recent events, it's pretty goddamn clear he was about as far as one can get from being a great man. |

| FriarReb98 Vodka Zombie: JoPa was a good coach, but in light of recent events, it's pretty goddamn clear he was about as far as one can get from being a great man. This whole thing is just...sad. It doesn't matter anymore who did what, the end result is that what was once the greatest team in the Northeast is reduced to being "that place with the pedophile." It tarnishes everything, and it just leaves me feeling like the team I liked for so long is just gone. The Northeast has always had it rough for football teams. I mean, we care as much about BC in the Boston area as much as North Florida cares about the Jaguars. The two state schools have the worst stadium situations imaginable, I've always hated the Cuse, what's left? Rutgers? Temple? Ivy League teams? Maybe Pitt if you can get past the fact that most Pittsburghers are PSU fans.... It's just a horrible time to be a Penn State fan. |

Get ready for a lot more "I don't care what anybody says" remarks like this one from Happy Valley. They spent yesterday secretly formulating a coordinated argument against reality, and are now ready to unleash it on the world. |

Marcus Aurelius: Penn State is a religion to some people. Blame it on their parents. My father practically worshiped the ground JoePa walked on, and I doubt any amount of evidence to the contrary would have swayed his opinion. My friend's inlaws pulled their grandkids (not my friend's children) out of school when Paterno died and took them to State College for 4 days to mourn. It's a sickness. |

The My Little Pony Killer: I hope Briana Marshall has a difficult time finding jobs after she graduates. Are you kidding me? I'd love to hire some of these (eventual) PSU Grads. They look to be the most susceptible to buy into the packaged narrative of an organization's "culture" and the "opportunity" to grow from w/in. You'd be hiring the most hard-working and stupidly loyal employees ever. |

Jeez, you keep one serial child molester under your wing for decades, and people start calling you a villain. |

| MisterLoki
Dan Wetzel said it better than I can: He wasn't taking illiterate Third World children and getting them to Harvard. Almost every person Paterno positively impacted through football would have fared similarly had Penn State not even fielded a team. They just would have played elsewhere. Bo Schembechler or Lou Holtz or Bobby Bowden would've coached them up in football and life, just like Paterno did. Conversely, the kids that Jerry Sandusky tricked, molested and damaged wouldn't have lived the same life had Paterno done the right thing. They were attacked, out of nowhere. Without fault. Without provocation. Without the opportunity to create their own destiny. The lives of these kids were profoundly and forever destroyed because of the actions of Sandusky, Spanier, Schultz, Curley and, yes, Joe Paterno. There could never be enough victories, enough perfect graduation rates, enough national championships to justify that. Link |

Dear Brianna, You're still a junior, and I understand that in modern American society we don't really treat people like adults until they "get into the real world" so you have a few years, but here's something you should know: Heroes are for children. Adults should not have them. |
||
| FriarReb98 Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: FriarReb98: ...most Pittsburghers are PSU fans.... The hell they are. Well okay, most Pittsburghers that I've personally met are. No clue why, probably due to ties to the Rooneys and DU or something. \yes, my best friend's step sister is a Rooney |

They don't need to take down the JoePa statue at Penn State. They only need to cover it up for 14 years. |

Yanks_RSJ: Get ready for a lot more "I don't care what anybody says" remarks like this one from Happy Valley. They spent yesterday secretly formulating a coordinated argument against reality, and are now ready to unleash it on the world. The PSU fans with self awareness need to get on the whole "shutting these clowns up" and self imposing sanctions. Otherwise they'll find themselves sans conference. No program is so important it's worth listening to a steady stream of child rape apologetics. That kind of stuff damages the conference wide brand. |
||
| johnnylarue Wonder how Brianna would feel if it was her 10-year-old brother being raped in the shower by Jerry Sandusky. |
||
| born_yesterday
Good. Interview more like Briana. Night and day, after day after day. Keep showing these asshats defending this weak clown, then reiterate exactly what Sandusky did and JoPa's and the University's role in it. Again and again and again. Nationally. Internationally. TV, internet, print. Again and again, quote these asshats. The more I see of the people touched by this place, the LESS sympathy I have for anyone there. |

| Publikwerks germ78: They don't need to take down the JoePa statue at Penn State. They only need to cover it up for 14 years. No, what they should do is add a statue of Sandusky leading 8 children away. The Penn state program that JoePa championed that is celebrated in the statue cost at least 8 kids their childhood. People should be reminded of that. |

a21ozcoldcup: It always impressed me how brainwashed the kids there were with regards to JoePa A good sign of how messed things up are at Penn State is when they hired their new coach. A bunch of the football boosters and such lost their collective minds and said they in effect would never welcome him because he has no previous affiliation with the school. |

Now I'm left to root for the likes of Nick Saban and Lane Kiffin to pass Paterno for most wins all-time. |

However, that may be insulting to bricks everywhere. |

Hey, Briana? Fark you. I'm glad you don't care what the Freeh report says about your precious, precious JoePa. I'm glad you don't care that he knew Sandusky was molesting children and did nothing to put a stop to it. I'm glad that in spite of what you've heard, you still think he's wonderful. No really, I'm glad. I'm glad because I always love being presented with subsections of humanity I can truly say I'm superior to, and in the wake of your completely ignorant opinion, I can sit comfortable in the knowledge that I am in fact, superior to you. So on that note, you have a nice day. |
