The main stream media is blaming occupy, saying LAPD was standing off with occupiers. That is false.

If, as some Farkers have suggested, that only right-wingers are fascists, left-wingers need to own up to the fact they are mainstream media. As far as I know (and please correct me if I'm out of the loop) Fox News is the only cable news program that gives a 'mostly' republican view.

Don't be a deniers left-wing... be proud.

Sgt. Ben Richards of the LAPD was reprimanded Saturday morning for refusing to participate in the attack on peaceful protesters.

Richards was ordered to "proceed with plan alpha" according to audio records, but Richards refused, saying "I said the crowd is unarmed! There are lots of women and children down there! All they want is more chalk for gods sake!"

LAPD Captain Todd Cohagen then responded to Richards on the radio, saying "As you were Richards. Proceed with plan alpha. All rioters must be neutralized." Sgt. Richards had one final radio transmission, saying "The hell with you, I will not taser helpless people! Abort mission. We return back to base."

A media spokesman for the LAPD has confirmed Sgt. Richards has been suspended for 20 days with pay.

No they didn't.

"G.First Amendment Claim.

Mackinney also asserts that California Penal Code §640.5 is facially unconstitutional. He asserts that the statute is overbroad, vague, and directed solely at speech because physical damage to property is already prohibited by §594. The district court failed to address this argument. We remand for a consideration of this claim."

Why do you say that?

From the article:

Some people who were arrested for chalking last night did it in spite of watching others get grabbed around them. They were not occupiers, but they could see the tyranny and were not going to stand for it.

This.

Seattle's Occupyers are now doing weekly marches through residential neighborhoods, 20 or so noisy hippies, one asswit with a bullhorn. They get police on cycles behind them as they go around parading their ignorance and their frustration with their own life's choices. The message (and I've seen their signs, heard their slogans, seen their web sites) still seems to come down to something along the lines of LIFE IS UNFAIR AND ITS EVERYONE ELSE'S FAULT I HATE YOU MOM AND DAD

He doesn't have TIME for points man. He's got to get some farking sleep to go back to his dead end job with no avenue for advancement or a pay raise.
He knows he has to work until he's 80 to afford living until hes 100 when he retires, and he can only pray to a God that will not respond that he does not get injured or sick.

Police arrived at the intersection shortly before 10 p.m. to move protesters blocking the street. At one point, an unidentified man tossed a glass bottle over his shoulder that landed in front of a line of LAPD officers gathered on Spring Street between 4th and 5th streets. The man was shot with what appeared to be a non-lethal weapon, witnesses said.

Were he alive today, I would think he would be proud that his efforts and sacrifice enabled me to be where I am now: relaxing by the pool in a lilly white subdivision in my north Florida vacation home with my white wife; completely free from the concern that men in white hoods are currently riding up in the back of a pickup to murder us all and burn the place to the ground.

Big difference between a civil rights march in the 50s or 60s involving tens of thousands of people of all walks of life, and a typical Occupy jaunt around the neighborhood or 10 or 20 black bloc guys breaking windows in the branch bank near my home.

All politics aside, you sound exactly like a grumpy old man telling kids to get off his lawn. This is not an effective rhetorical styling and will only harden the resolve of those who you argue against. People don't like to be told how they will be. Now, if you could show them how they will come to understand in 20-30 years instead of just asserting the claim, you might be able to convince someone.

Occupy kids arent on anyones payroll. They arent that smart. What Occupy kids are is well intentioned idiots with no real idea how to communicate to your target audience. And no self-awareness of what it is that Occupy looks like or is outside of the little insulated circle that it travels in.

Occupy is such a circle jerk. You alienate people who are also 99% but who don't agree that disrupting normal daily life is an effective or a wanted means of communication.

If you use a broad enough brush, you can make any criticism of your method look like racism or 1960s Bull Connor. But that is kind of the point I'm making. You are immune to ANY criticism. That makes you no better than your enemy. Its like Godwinning with different reference points - can't compare your enemies to Nazis any more, so compare them to Chairman Mao or Governor Wallace.

in 1971 Pete Townsend wrote a really nice little ditty that summed up the 60s. I know its also cliche worn but consider when he wrote it, they'd just had 10 years or more of protests. Hopefully the irony of Won't Get Fooled Again would resonate with you. On the other hand, you'll probably just accuse him of being a tired old hippie pedo now, and you'd be right.

When you mature in years to come, you might look back on Occupy as well meaning but flawed, or you might cling to the idea that it was ignored by an oligarch state that needed to exercise undue control. A lot of these things depend on who is writing the history, of course.

Right now, today, dorks banging pots and pans, smashing bank branch windows, and chalking sidewalks really does nothing to win neutral 99%'ers over to your cause, and it does often push people away who might otherwise be interested. That is all I'm saying.

I'm from a time when we all knew protesting was feeble sh*t done by a few loud asshats who needed more attention than everyone else, but who deluded themselves into thinking they were making a difference.

I guess it's possible you are making a difference, but history really is on my side in this, not yours. So you might be this generations flower gun girl, though I think riot kiss couple in Vancouver BC might have you beat already.

History says there are always protests, but that the power structure wins out, and todays protesters become tomorrows co-opted members of the ruling elite. So thats really your strategy! In 30 years you can tell everyone how much difference you made by breaking windows of a branch bank.

While you simultaneously condemn that year's 20 year olds for hating you and all the advantages you had in life.

Just like the hippies of the 60s are often now fake liberal selfish idiots today. But that won't happen to you, oh no.
