Good: Umpire doesn't fall for the old "the pitch hit my sprained elbow" trick. Better: Throws the batter out of the game on the next pitch

Wow, that Walker guy's a real jerk.

First he fakes being hit, THEN he points the bat at the umpire like that.

And I think this may be the first time I have ever posted in the Sports tab.

You google-fu is strong. I was 5 years ago. but it's a college game between Arkansas and Ole Miss. He went on to fail at minor league ball and get on the Arkansas coaching staff.

And after watching that, I'd like to punch the fark out of his mean cracker face.

Ah - you found an earlier reference than I did. Actually, it may have been even earlier than that for all I know.

He's still a cracker biatch, though. Too bad peckerwoods take up baseball and not soccer.

If soccer handled flopping in this manner added three goals, electrified the playing surface and reduced the length of the field to 50 feet, it would be a much better sport.

he didn't get ejected for the horrible acting job, he was ejected for pointing the bat at the ump after he struck out

A good friend of mine used to say, "This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

As much as I wish umps handled flopping this way, it looks like the ump was reacting to the batter's gesture after he struck out, not his crappy acting job on the previous pitch.

Don't really understand why a player would do this. HBP doesn't do anything for your stats, and ultimately the numbers are how you are judged. Well, and being a whiny pussy doesn't help either.

It gets you on first base and out of what will likely be a messy looking strikeout for you.

He should have been ejected on the next pitch no matter what. If he had been hit to the point where he acted the way he did, there's no way he gets a cut at the next pitch like that. He gave the fake away immediately, and for that he deserved to get tossed. The bat pointing was just the icing on the cake.

OBP and OPS are directly impacted and I am sure there are more advanced stats that it will figure into. Plus, getting on base is always good if you want to win the game. I never complained whenever I got hit. It is a successful plate appearance with no risk or effort required. I would get royally pissed when the umpire refused to give me first base for whatever reason.

He was a college baseball player. What more would you expect?

Of course the ump was probably hoping for a reason to toss him at that point. Especially after his swing made it 100% certain he was acting and never hurt his arm (it was possible he actually hurt it aggravating whatever he had it wrapped for).

They get away with playing a little soccer, from time to time, in between operatic displays of agony and head band adjustments.

According to this story the incident took place back in 2006. The particular video linked from Youtube by subby was posted to Youtube in April of 2011. Martin earned a solid reputation as a douche because of this incident. However, his raging doucheosity didn't prevent him from playing minor league baseball.

This should be his minor league record:

Link

He had 6 games in AAA in the Angels' system.

Here is the announcement of his retirement after a long and storied career: Link

His stats aren't that bad, particularly for a catcher. I wonder why he really retired.

FIFY

/ a "manager" in college baseball is a student who is in charge of things like making sure uniforms are washed.
// the guy who runs the team is the "coach", just like it is in football, basketball, hockey, etc.
