| notmtwain 5 seconds into the fight we discover that a female MMA fighter has no forehead // Why are they even calling that a knockout? Shouldn't they call it a TKO? She was never "out" as far as I can see. // Interesting to check out her facebook "When u win in the cage u feel on top on the world. When u lose u wish u could hide. Unfortunately I lost & prob. In one of the worst ways. But all I can say is thank u to all of my friends/teammates & even co-workers who support me. I lost tonight but I feel like the luckiest girl alive. " --Ashlee Evans-Smith // At least she has class. |

| tallguywithglasseson If the other girl had touched gloves the fight might have lasted 6 seconds. Nice straight right hand by the way. |

To be fair, this happens often in mens' fights, too. Paul Buentello's shot at the UFC Heavyweight title was shorter than the time it took to announce his name. |

Seriously - fast KOs do happen with enough regularity that it's not crazy-shocking. Look at Mark Hominick against KZ. And this comes on the heels of a valiant effort against Jose frigging Aldo. |

Who is up next -- Von Kaiser or Bald Bull? |

Yeah, that was called "let's touch gloves with another kickboxer and throw a surprise haymaker, just to see what happens". |

And this comes on the heels of a valiant effort against Jose frigging Aldo. So the question now is whether the force necessary to KTFO a person or withstand being KTFO is proportional to overall body size. Im not a Dr. but i would assume for all intents and purposes, that the power needed to lay a person out is roughly a set amount regardless of how big the person get knocked out is. So yes, i can understand a person who is 250lbs throwing a helluva punch and devastating somebodies brain, but a person weighing 100lbs should not be generating that level of force. In mens fighting big KO's tend to happen at the higher weight classes because of the strength and power of the bigger fights. Its unusual for light weight fighters to be KO'ing their opponents but it happens all the time in womens fights. |

because a man has never been knocked out with one punch before. |

| Sin_City_Superhero I work with a girl who recently ended her boxing career. Her face is only so-so, but her body is slammin', and she is the single nicest person I've ever met. She still won't let me see her boobs, though. :( |

One quick KO means all women MMA fighters have no chin? Alrighty then... |

| umad Theaetetus: [imgs.xkcd.com image 410x211] Hey, Subby? Here's 12 male MMA fights getting one-punch knockouts. I don't see any of them being one-punch KTFO by a 100 pound girl. |

Mike Tyson had many fights that ended in his opponent being KOed in a shorter time than it took to announce the fight. /Still believe that boxing is a better sport than MMA. //Wake me when MMA is an Olympic sport. |

She is 5' 11" and fights at 145 pounds. She probably weighed closer to 155 pounds (or more) by fight time. I take it you've never seen a male mma fighter that is 5'11" 155 pounds knock someone out, despite several examples already being posted in this thread? |

umad: It's about five seconds in. Watch close or you will miss it. It's a 155 pound woman, not a 100 pound woman. She is 5' 11". In her previous fight, she knocked out a 175 pound woman in 5 seconds. I'm still waiting for the "100 pound" woman to appear... |

Now show me where any of the men in WhiteKnightus's post were knocked out by 155 pound women. |

Kid Yamamoto disagrees. Forgot about that one, though it was kinda cheap how he got a running start before the bell. The way Japs set those shows up, I wouldn't be surprised if the promoter gave Kid a 2-second warning on the bell and told the rube that Kid was going to come out and touch gloves. |

Theaetetus: [imgs.xkcd.com image 410x211] Hey, Subby? Here's 12 male MMA fights getting one-punch knockouts. Not surprised most of those happened at the local level. That's where you see the bigger disparities in talent. Also, the one where the guy throws the punch right as they're touching gloves was classless. I know it's legal, but I wouldn't be surprised if that guy got jumped in the parking lot after the fight. |
