No, damn you England. Who decided that one of the coldest, dampest places on Earth would be the perfect place to have the summer Olympics? Beach Volleyball......played in raincoats in a downpour.

And this is why the Summer Olympics should only be held in places that actually have a summer.

They've held the games in London before, and right after that they held the games in Helsinki.

That was before they added beach volleyball. And before anyone could actually watch the Games unless they were in the host city.

I watched the Olympic trials for women's gymnastics last night.

I had to take a shower after to wash off the 'dirty old man'.

The bikini's and babes aside....why in the fark is "beach volleyball" an Olympic sport? Fark it, frisbee, hackeysack and skimboard should be added next....

chevydeuce: The bikini's and babes aside....why in the fark is "beach volleyball" an Olympic sport?

It goes back to the ancient Greeks in the first Olympic games who played volleyball on the sands along the shore of Athens. The "ball" weighed 30 pounds and was a leather bag filled with shot, and they played naked (as with all of the games), thus leading to additional hazards due to abrasions.

You can get rid of beach volleyball when you get rid of the "exercise events" of pretty much all of track and field and swimming.

Theaetetus: But warnings of continuing cool, wet weather this month threaten to put a dampener on things if the girls don frumpy shirts and leggings.

Shauna, 27, said: "Once the temperature drops below 16°C we are allowed to wear long leggings and long-sleeved tops."

No longer officially true. This is the first year in which the rules have been changed and the women don't have to wear the bikinis if they don't want to:

But the days of mandatory bikinis are over, says the International Volleyball Federation. According to newly adopted rules, female competitors in Olympic volleyball will be permitted to wear shorts and sleeved tops out of respect for the cultural beliefs of some participating countries.

"Many of these countries have religious and cultural requirements, so the uniform needed to be more flexible," said International Volleyball Federation spokesman Richard Baker to The Associated Press.

According to the Telegraph, the new guidelines permit "shorts of a maximum length of three centimeters (1.18 inches) above the knee, and sleeved or sleeveless tops."

Farking Muslims don't want their women competing at all. Why indulge them?

Because we're not indulging the Farking Muslims who don't want their women competing at all, we're indulging the Muslim women who do want to compete. I mean, what would you prefer - that we do exactly what they want and structure the rules so that those women can't compete? What kind of appeaser are you?

Track and field are one of the original Olympic sports...I don't watch them, but I'm willing to give them a pass...Swimming? Ehh, could take it or leave it....But BMX? Beach Volleyball? A "sport" (activity) should have to be around for at least 100 years before it's added to the roster....

/I don't even know if BMX is still a recognized Olympic sport...but it never should have been...

Exactly, but I am looking forward to the tight uniforms they will be wearing since they look for any reason to show off their tight, tight bodies.

Volleyball is two teams of people competing to score points on each other based on objective criteria. It's more of a sport than those piece of shiat events where the winner is determined based solely on their style as perceived by a panel of perverts judges.

Get real. The Olympics is about entertainment - just like any other sporting event. And just like all the others, there's always some T&A (or beefcake if that's what floats your boat) to keep us occupied.

Add some misguided nationalism to that mix.

Hooray! I can beat my chest with pride because some people I've never met scored more points against some other people I've never met, but since the winners just happened to be born in the same country as I was, it somehow validates me as though I had something to do with their success!

Actually, now it's becoming more of "because my country nationalized and paid athletes from countries with better athletes first and got the best ones."

Not that the first idea isn't silly, but now it doesn't even have that common link.
