| Rev.K The saga of Andy Carroll. At the tail end of the Premier League season Carroll starts to show some real quality. Scores some timely goals in Liverpool's eventual FA Cup final defeat and has a solid showing at Euro2012. All so Liverpool can deal him back to Newcastle where he finally becomes the striker Liverpool hoped he would be. Well played, Newcastle, well played. /FML |
||
| Langston He had a pretty bad season but his form looked pretty good at the end of the season and into the Euros. I don't think I'd consider him a bust just yet. Why is Liverpool so eager to sell him? |

Because they're Liverpool. Rodgers doesn't want anyone that will interrupt his "Pass 200 times per shot" system. |

| MugzyBrown Ok he scored a couple of goals at the end of the year, but he looked like crap vs Italy. His feet are awful. Good on Liverpool for cutting their losses. |

Sadly, Arsenal got beat at their own game by Swansea in Wales. Then again Man City got beat there too; so it's not all bad. |

And Arsenal. By the grace of Van Persie. And Arteta x 2; that's what Arsenal always needed to make their style a pain in the ass to every other team. If they putting 5 or 6 in the box so that you can't pass it there and giving you an open midfield, rear back and launch a 35-yard missile right at goal. You can only try to pass the ball into the net so much before other teams get wise. Swansea were unwatchable. Only to those that couldn't get the ball of them. |

| MugzyBrown Zombie Hitler: Swansea were unwatchable. Yeah why would you want to emulate the style the best club and national team of the last 6 years. Instead you can pretend it's still the 60's, you need some tall guy to knock in crosses and catch long balls, and england is relevant in soccer. |

If I were Liverpool, I'd hang on to him for at least one more season and see if his feet get a little better. He's already been losing some weight and gained some speed, so maybe he's that garbage time goal option that Barca were missing in the matches vs Chelsea. |

Is Liverpool putting on a fire sale? I got five bucks on me, and I'll take Gerrard off your hands. I'll throw in a Starbucks gift card with $3 left on it for Agger too. |

Looks like Newcastle only wanted to give them 13 mil back. Hilarious. |

| Rwa2play MugzyBrown: Zombie Hitler: Swansea were unwatchable. Yeah why would you want to emulate the style the best club and national team of the last 6 years. This. It will be interesting to see how Southhampton and Reading come along this season. They're in a similar mold to both Swansea and Norwich last season. Instead you can pretend it's still the 60's, you need some tall guy to knock in crosses and catch long balls, and england is relevant in soccer. Sadly, that's what we'll be seeing from Sam Allardyce and West Ham this season. |

Lots of people go to the parks and emulate NBA players. Doesn't make them watchable. They were Stoke's prettier cousin. |

At the death of the 2010/11 winter transfer window, with Torres obviously wanting out to Chelsea and a $50M bid for him on the table, Liverpool had few options. Sure they could have just banked the money, but that would have raised the ire of supporters, seemingly leaving the club with a significantly weakened squad for the rest of the season. So what did they really do? They effectively swapped/traded Torres (didn't want to play for the club anymore) and Babel (far too long underperforming) for Carroll and Suarez, two players with huge potential, exciting the fans and making a profit of $2M in the process. If you want to laugh at Liverpool 'paying' $35M for Carroll, then the $50M Chelsea paid for Torres also deserves a chuckle. |

And those $$ should be pounds of course.... |

I'm not sure Andy has a place if they go with Rodgers preferred style of play. Then again, I don't think most of the midfielders on the roster have places either. |

He'll always be overpriced. That Liverpool transfer skewered his price for the better part of a decade. There was talk about him coming over to Fulham (would be a GREAT career move for a loan), but I fear his wages are totally out of whack with what he gives you game in, game out. |

Are Newcastle really this dumb? Relative to the player's ability, this was the greatest transfer of all time, OF ALL TIME. Why would they want to spend so much buying him back? It's like a metaphor where you commit a robbery and ... something ... I'm not good with metaphors. ADubs86: If I were Liverpool, I'd hang on to him for at least one more season and see if his feet get a little better. He's 23. It's at least 10 years too late to see if his feet can get a little better. ADubs86: maybe he's that garbage time goal option that Barca were missing in the matches vs Chelsea. Maybe not missing about six great chances in the first leg would have been a better option. Or the penalty in the second leg. Noseybonk: If you want to laugh at Liverpool 'paying' $35M for Carroll, then the $50M Chelsea paid for Torres also deserves a chuckle. Torres was a thoroughbred. Carroll was, is and always will be a donkey. |

Would love to see Andy Carroll back at NUFC as long as it costs us less than 15 mil. I think he'd be great as an impact sub during the premier league and then start every game in Europe. /plus it'd be great to laugh in liverpools face when he comes good again. |
