As a Giants fan I should find any Cowboy's drama funny but instead I find it sad. Bryant's mom is a crack whore. Its amazing he's made it this far.

Ehh... while somewhat true, it's not as though he has any accomplishments other than catching a ball. Probably reads on a middle school level, has been sued for most of his salary for NEXT year for unpaid jewelry bills, etc. He's not exactly teaching poor kids science.

Skeptical of anything to come out of that broad's mouth.

He deserves a serious ban if everything is on the up-and-up, but so far, she's changed her story numerous times already.

Dez doesn't have a history of violence (the nightclub thing was dismissed). Stupidity, absolutely.

In Texas, misdemeanor assault comes in two flavors:
Class C - Verbal threats to hurt someone or unwanted contact (non-sexual)
Class A - Unwanted contact that actually causes pain

Anything more serious than that is a felony.

A family violence allegation makes any assault more serious. He will forever lose the right to own or even possess firearms or amunition if found guilty or... even if he just agrees to deferred adjudication probbation. Unless the case is dismissed outright you can never have the records of your arrest sealed or destroyed... in other types of cases you can have the records sealed if you complete deferred adjudication but not assault if there was a family violence allegation.

Also, if a man assaults a woman in Texas that is considered a crime of moral turpitude. Basically it means you are legally catagorized as an immoral person. The fact that you hit a woman can be used against you in unrelated legal matters to attack your credibility as a witness, an honest citizen, etc.

What if she hit you first? What if it was self-defense? Are there exceptions for that? There has to be.

I thought in Texas it was legal for a man to beat his wife as long as he uses an object no larger than his thumb.

True enough (not subby), but the Cowboys have had their fair share of lawbreakers, either longterm or just passing through:

Sam Hurd
Michael Irvin
Pacman Jones
Ryan Leaf
Nate Newton
Rafael Septien
Hollywood Henderson
Dwayne Goodrich
Larry Bethea
Harvey Martin
Bob Hayes

This latest incident is still all speculation at this point, but it's not his first incident since hitting the pros. Dez's stock in the draft fell for a reason.

It's an antiquated "law" that was done away with long ago. It's where we get the phrase "rule of thumb" from. Also, if you're just trolling, I will beat you with both of my thumbs.

Really? So anyone who has ever touched the franchise & was arrested, even if they played for another team at the time.... should mar the franchise? I want you to know that that is extremely ridiculous and HIGHLY unfair.

Sam Hurd - left the team in 2010, arrested in 2011, while with the Bears
Michael Irvin - left the team in 1999. Here is a legitimate one since he misbehaved while on the team. However, he hasn't played for the Cowboys in 13 years.
Pacman Jones - played for the Cowboys for one year, 2008. Arrested in 2007, while with the Titans
Ryan Leaf - played for the Cowboys for one year, 2001. His legal troubles began in 2009.
Nate Newton - left the team in 1998. Arrested in 2003 for transporting pot.
Rafael Septien - left the team in 1986. Convicted in 1987.
Hollywood Henderson - left the team in 1979 because Coach Landry cut him because of his sorry behavior.
Dwayne Goodrich - 3rd string CB who was immediately cut from the team after being arrested. He was not intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Larry Bethea - left the team in 1983. Trouble with the law began in 1985.
Harvey Martin - also left the team in 1983. Arrested in 1996.
Bob Hayes - left the team in 1974. I can't find what he was arrested for, but I did find a reference to "legal & drug issues," I also learned that he is the only man to win an Olympic Gold Medal and a Super Bowl ring. What an asshole, amirite? How dare the Cowboys employ such a filthy loser.

Read the NFL blotter. I'm not saying the Cowboys are perfect (I doubt any team is), but they're far from the worst. It is an unfair & dishonest criticism to act like they're a team full of felons.

This is the guy who killed the three "good samaratins" on I35 at 3:00 in the morning? No one knows for sure whether or not he was in intoxicated at the time, because after running three people over, he decided to DRIVE HOME.

When something like this happens, I'm not sure why it matters or not if alcohol was involved. Personally I think the absense of alcohol makes it worse. As in, "he did that sober?!?!"

Right. Nowhere did I say that what he did was in any way excusable. I was only saying that as soon as he was arrested, he was cut from the team. So I don't think it's fair to saddle the entire organization with the situation when they immediately cut him.

Really? So anyone who has ever touched the franchise & was arrested, even if they played for another team at the time.... should mar the franchise? I want you to know that that is extremely ridiculous and HIGHLY unfair.

Sam Hurd - left the team in 2010, arrested in 2011, while with the Bears
The investigation into Hurd's attempt to buy large amounts of cocaine and marijuana began in July 2011, when he was still a member of the Dallas Cowboys.

Michael Irvin - left the team in 1999. Here is a legitimate one since he misbehaved while on the team. However, he hasn't played for the Cowboys in 13 years.
He's still one of the faces of the Cowboys and he didn't help the cause with his crack-pipe incident a few years back.

Pacman Jones - played for the Cowboys for one year, 2008. Arrested in 2007, while with the Titans
They knew he was trouble before they signed him. The Cowboys traded for Jones before the season even though he had been suspended in 2007 because of a series of off-field incidents.

Ryan Leaf - played for the Cowboys for one year, 2001. His legal troubles began in 2009.
Fair enough

Nate Newton - left the team in 1998. Arrested in 2003 for transporting pot.
Another face of the Cowboys, though not as prominent as Irvin. He was arrested in 2001.

Rafael Septien - left the team in 1986. Convicted in 1987.
False. He was dropped by the team AFTER pleading guilty to indecency with a child.

Hollywood Henderson - left the team in 1979 because Coach Landry cut him because of his sorry behavior.
Landry put up with him for a while before cutting him. During many games, he snorted liquid cocaine from an inhaler he hid in his pants.

Dwayne Goodrich - 3rd string CB who was immediately cut from the team after being arrested. He was not intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Fair enough

Larry Bethea - left the team in 1983. Trouble with the law began in 1985.
True

Harvey Martin - also left the team in 1983. Arrested in 1996.
Yes, but he's also a celebrated Cowboys SB MVP and not some scrub from their past.

Another celebrated Cowboys player with a dubious upholding of the franchise's honor. Where did I say he's an asshole or a filthy loser?

Read the NFL blotter. I'm not saying the Cowboys are perfect (I doubt any team is), but they're far from the worst. It is an unfair & dishonest criticism to act like they're a team full of felons.

The Police have a lot to answer for here.

When they left the first time they said there was no sign of an assault. 3 days later she now has marks on her hands, arm, face and chest and is claiming that he tore her shirt and bra in the course of the alleged assault. That means the officers on the scene absolutely dropped the ball, or the marks came from something later and the torn clothes didn't happen.

There is also one big question I have about whether or not he was there when police arrived. This is important because, under Texas law, if they believed there was an assault they were legally obligated to take him in to custody. I found out about that when I was hit by an ex and told them I didn't want to press charges. In cases of domestic violence it is not up to the victim, and they have removed any decision making authority from the Police.

I think Dez is a moron. I am not a Cowboys fan. Those few here who know me know I am adamant about throwing the book at people who commit domestic violence. But this story is not quite adding up right now.

I think the point is that the NFL is full of deplorable human beings and no team is deplorable-human-being-free. And there was something in there about condemning the Cowboys for having a few deplorable human beings in their history.

Whatever.
