IamSoSmart_S_M_R_T: I didn't even get into the 90's team which was known for drugs and hookers in excess. ;)

Yeeeeeeeah but here's the thing, see.... that was 20 years ago. While I would never try to excuse their poor behavior, that was 20 years ago. Know what I mean? If that issue were a zygote when it happened, it'd be registering to vote by now. I mean REALLY.

IamSoSmart_S_M_R_T: //Are you going to a game this season?
///I'll be at the Bears vs. cowboys in Week 4

I don't know yet. I certainly hope so. Right now my focus is on getting to a Rangers game. My friend that used to get us sweet tickets is moving to stupid San Antonio in about a month. Just one more reason to hate SA. Hmph.

IamSoSmart_S_M_R_T: The Cowboys got Murray back. That's good. He's not known for being durable. That's bad. But they updated their secondary. That's good. But Jerry is still in charge of the team. That's bad.

Yes. All of this.

IamSoSmart_S_M_R_T: /Can I go now?

Modern bad behavior inevitably brings up visions of past bad behavior. I'm not saying it's fair, I'm just calling it like it is.

I'm hoping for free tix again but I'll probably have to pony up the money for that game. Shiat, I think I have some vouchers for Rangers tickets (or discounted or something) that I'm not going to use (God hates me going to any Rangers' games, it's a fact) but I wouldn't call them "sweet."

Slow To Return: I think the point is that the NFL is full of deplorable human beings and no team is deplorable-human-being-free. And there was something in there about condemning the Cowboys for having a few deplorable human beings in their history.

I agree, I don't care if players get in trouble (depending on the trouble, certain crimes are unforgivable) I just care if they play well. People who expect athletes to be flawless is insane.

As for the Cowboys, I think they've been pretty under the radar when it comes to the law compared to most teams, though Dez is the one guy on the team that has problems. Being a fan, I DO remember the 90s Cowboys having a reputation (like the Bengals do now) of being full of criminals, so I assume the subby is referencing that. Outdated but I get it.

But yeah, GO COWBOYS!

/Thank God the Olympics is this year, I'm finally starting to fiend for the football season.

Nobody let him off the hook for that. What the hell are you even talking about?

So, Jerry Jones didn't pay McIvar a reported $700,000.00 to not press charges to keep Irvin out of jail for violating his parole? Sounds like someone got off the hook pretty clean don't you think. Not to mention he is on television and in the Hall of Fame, both travesties in my opinion.

Pretty sweet deal for someone convicted of felony cocaine possession as well as numerous charges for assault, harassment, amongst numerous other things. Pret-ty sweet indeed.

Really? So anyone who has ever touched the franchise & was arrested, even if they played for another team at the time.... should mar the franchise? I want you to know that that is extremely ridiculous and HIGHLY unfair.

Sam Hurd - left the team in 2010, arrested in 2011, while with the Bears
Michael Irvin - left the team in 1999. Here is a legitimate one since he misbehaved while on the team. However, he hasn't played for the Cowboys in 13 years.
Pacman Jones - played for the Cowboys for one year, 2008. Arrested in 2007, while with the Titans
Ryan Leaf - played for the Cowboys for one year, 2001. His legal troubles began in 2009.
Nate Newton - left the team in 1998. Arrested in 2003 for transporting pot.
Rafael Septien - left the team in 1986. Convicted in 1987.
Hollywood Henderson - left the team in 1979 because Coach Landry cut him because of his sorry behavior.
Dwayne Goodrich - 3rd string CB who was immediately cut from the team after being arrested. He was not intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Larry Bethea - left the team in 1983. Trouble with the law began in 1985.
Harvey Martin - also left the team in 1983. Arrested in 1996.
Bob Hayes - left the team in 1974. I can't find what he was arrested for, but I did find a reference to "legal & drug issues," I also learned that he is the only man to win an Olympic Gold Medal and a Super Bowl ring. What an asshole, amirite? How dare the Cowboys employ such a filthy loser.

Read the NFL blotter. I'm not saying the Cowboys are perfect (I doubt any team is), but they're far from the worst. It is an unfair & dishonest criticism to act like they're a team full of felons.

Well that explains much. You don't know, or you just are being coy so as not to look ignorant. Michael Irvin is a piece of human garbage. Also, you said he didn't get off the hook, ie defending it. Therefore, learn about football before you speak of it. There's a reason he was cheered in Philly when he was carted off. And its not simply because Philly fans are douches.

Listen here, bucko. I know my football. I was ADMITTING that I wasn't paying attention to football at the time. I was also SHOWING that it was 20 years ago. I never once defended Irvin or said he was a super guy. That's what "I'm not defending any of it" means. Or do you need help with your reading? Maybe if you move your lips a little and sound out the words nice & slow, it'll help you understand.

At what point do you let it go? He hasn't played for the team for 13 years. I'm not asking you to fall madly, deeply in love with the Cowboys, just be fair. It IS unfair to indict the entire franchise from here to eternity for his sins. In fact, I'd say it's downright absurd.

Also, there's a little quotey button up next to the time stamp that you can use so you don't look like a total farking retard.

Nah, I don't really gamble. I may backtrack a little bit, come to think of it, but I think the Cowboys will have a massively underperforming season, and Garrett will be out the door. They will not make the playoffs.

I think the Skins will show massive improvement, and the Eagles will have a breakout year, and the Giants will have a much better regular season than last year. The Cowboys will be fighting the Redskins for 3rd place in the division. But yeah, the skins are the skins.

Going back to 2000 seems like a stretch for reflecting who a team is now. Lots of management turnover happens in over a decade.

They pretty much treat it like soldiers about to be deployed. The last chance to cut loose while your brain and spine are still intact. It's totally understandable that they have the urge to do it but they should get drivers and security to avoid dui and frakases. And for the love of god just beat up whores that will gladly take a couple shots for a couple grand and not former whores who happen to be your mother.
