| what_now On the one hand, that made me laugh my ass off. On the other hand, that's my station, and it's the second longest escalator in the country, and the elevator has been out of operation for 16 months now so.... |

I can't see the video, so which station is it? Porter Square? If so, I'm really, really not surprised. There was also that video from Alewife a few years back of the guy who tried to ride the handrail and went over the edge backwards... |

| Aarontology FloydA: How could she possibly have thought that would work? She's from Massachusetts and probably figured they outlawed gravity because it can hurt people. |

| smells_like_meat That wasn't a scooter. Its a full fledged electric wheelchair. That would indicate a "real" medical problem. To be fair the problem may not be an inability to walk but may be related to endurance, fainting or the like. But she is box of rocks stupid, that's for sure. Spun her like a top. I recently had surgery that temporally affected my endurance and ability to walk. I used a scooter for about a month and may need to occasionally use one in the future (I rented). I'm not fat. Not everyone on a scooter is a faker. |

Yes, Porter Sq Does the sign up top on the commuter rail stop still sorta say "oomuter rail?" Because I... uh, that was me. Like six years ago. |

[blog.onemorelevel.com image 440x440] Only about a tenth of the way up, actually. That escalator rises somewhere between 80 and 100 feet. The video doesn't show it, but that's a very long escalator. |

If I was her I would have just said to roll with it (no pun intended), but I guess it gets risky if that hold doesn't work out once you're almost to the top. |

| Paris1127 Vodka Zombie: FloydA: How could she possibly have thought that would work? Because Jesus. That's how! If I'm not mistaken, she made the sign of the cross before rolling onto the escalator... That or a preemptive "oh snap!"... |

It's hard enough doing this with a lightweight manual chair (you have to have enough arm strength and endurance to hold both yourself and the chair in position until you get to the end, fighting gravity the entire time) - I suspect it's nearly impossible in a power chair. |

That escalator rises somewhere between 80 and 100 feet. The video doesn't show it, but that's a very long escalator. That escalator (which looks like the Broadway Station) is nothing compared to the one at Porter Station on the Red Line. Now if she had almost made it to the top of the Porter escalator then started to fall down, two days later she still wouldn't have hit bottom.
