| unlikely ...ironically creating the need for more doctors as skull fractures from all the foreheadslaps and facepalms threatened to strain the existing medical infrastructure. |

| Marcus Aurelius I literally spun around in my chair when I heard this earlier today. Then I cackled a bit. |
| Quasar I cannot support limiting the right of Americans to speak up. He went on to add "limiting the right of women and gay people, on the other hand, makes my beak moist." |
| born_yesterday
But added, if you could draw an accurate enough picture of him, you would be accepted to art school! /Drawing of a pirate also accepted. |

On the chance of sounding like the Freepers on the other side, why the heck doesn't this get more media attention? Whatever happened to the free press as a guardian of democracy? |
| Klippoklondike He makes it sound McCarthyistic, as if people are going to be blacklisted and treated as anti-american, but it's just about identifying political donors. |
| don't understand
Does the GOP's idiocy know no bounds? |

Quasar: I cannot support limiting the right of Americans to speak up. He went on to add "limiting the right of women and gay people, on the other hand, makes my beak moist." New keyboard. Now. /if McConnell is against it, I'm probably for it //go to hell turtle boy |

Does The Talking Turtle even bother to remember what happened longer than two minutes ago, or is he have goldfish DNA in his system as well? |

Why is an anonymous donation of money now protected free speech? Why are corporations now people? Is this how they do things on Planet Chelonia? |
| InvertedB
It's really sad that one of the two major parties in this country is allowed by the public, who continually votes them into office to just waste time pressing for legislation that has no hope of passing and is of benefit to few to none, of their constituents. |

The ironic bit of hilarity here is that anonymity is almost exclusively used by huge corporate interests to hide their control of the political process. Say you're a corporation looking to lighten enforcement of the clean air act. You just start a group called "Citizens for Cleaner Air" and blanket the airwaves telling people to "Vote Yes for clean air" when doing so actually does the opposite. Clean, neat, and no pesky accountability to trace the money back to you. |
| Satanic_Hamster Silly Mitch; we're not trying to stop anyone from speaking up. We're just asking to see your voice when you speak. What do you have to hide, Mitch? You have to show your ID and prove your identity to buy alcohol, a gun, rent an apartment, check out a book, masturbate, board a plane, etc etc. Why not when you raise funds and take out adds? |
| AdolfOliverPanties Mitch McConnell and Eric Cantor deserve to be tied to the bumper of a fully gassed up F350 and dragged across desert scrub until the fuel tank runs dry. |
| Exception Collection I hate to say it, but I kinda agree with Mitch. 20 years ago, a (published) donation to an organization like the HRC could get a person injured in the wrong town. Note that this applies to *people*. Organizations - be they three friends with a PAC or a multinational corporation - should be required to report. |
| Gyrfalcon To be fair, there's not much oxygen in his shell, so he's probably not thinking clearly. |
| Tigger Traitor Turtle is traitorous |
| Karac Your right to throw a punch ends at my nose. Your right to undisclosed financing of political campaigns ends when it buys one of my elected officials. |
| HellRaisingHoosier
If the Internet has taught me nothing, it's the anonymity brings out the worst in people. If someone knows they can get away with saying or doing something without any punishment or public scrutiny ... then they will probably do it. I think if, in the political world, you want to say or do something you need to be able to stand by your actions. Especially when it involves me and my life. Also, these are corporations, not people. A corporation can't cry, cheer, vote, or die for its country. We The People do. So this is not a First Amendment issue. |

Liberals: Stop trying to save the country when you know the Democrats won't let you! Er, we mean... uh... something else! Once again, more than 50% of the people supporting something liberals like? Well then that settles that! It should be done! More than 50% of the people supporting something liberals don't like? Shut up you worms, you don't know what's best for us.. er I mean you. |

I can't believe he compared this issue with the NAACP back in 1958! Back then, members and donors needed to be anonymous because of the very real possibility of being lynched! Billionaires do not face this same problem. |

Mitch McConnell says the Disclose Act is a pointless vote, then proceeds to plan the 34th attempt to repeal ObamaCare The Senate has voted to repeal ObamaCare 34 times? Or maybe McConnell is in the House now. |
