...ironically creating the need for more doctors as skull fractures from all the foreheadslaps and facepalms threatened to strain the existing medical infrastructure.

I cannot support limiting the right of Americans to speak up.

He went on to add "limiting the right of women and gay people, on the other hand, makes my beak moist."

On the chance of sounding like the Freepers on the other side, why the heck doesn't this get more media attention? Whatever happened to the free press as a guardian of democracy?

He makes it sound McCarthyistic, as if people are going to be blacklisted and treated as anti-american, but it's just about identifying political donors.

Why is an anonymous donation of money now protected free speech? Why are corporations now people? Is this how they do things on Planet Chelonia?

It's really sad that one of the two major parties in this country is allowed by the public, who continually votes them into office to just waste time pressing for legislation that has no hope of passing and is of benefit to few to none, of their constituents.

The ironic bit of hilarity here is that anonymity is almost exclusively used by huge corporate interests to hide their control of the political process. Say you're a corporation looking to lighten enforcement of the clean air act. You just start a group called "Citizens for Cleaner Air" and blanket the airwaves telling people to "Vote Yes for clean air" when doing so actually does the opposite. Clean, neat, and no pesky accountability to trace the money back to you.

Silly Mitch; we're not trying to stop anyone from speaking up. We're just asking to see your voice when you speak.

What do you have to hide, Mitch? You have to show your ID and prove your identity to buy alcohol, a gun, rent an apartment, check out a book, masturbate, board a plane, etc etc. Why not when you raise funds and take out adds?

I hate to say it, but I kinda agree with Mitch. 20 years ago, a (published) donation to an organization like the HRC could get a person injured in the wrong town.

Note that this applies to *people*. Organizations - be they three friends with a PAC or a multinational corporation - should be required to report.

If the Internet has taught me nothing, it's the anonymity brings out the worst in people. If someone knows they can get away with saying or doing something without any punishment or public scrutiny ... then they will probably do it. I think if, in the political world, you want to say or do something you need to be able to stand by your actions. Especially when it involves me and my life.

Also, these are corporations, not people. A corporation can't cry, cheer, vote, or die for its country. We The People do. So this is not a First Amendment issue.

Once again, more than 50% of the people supporting something liberals like? Well then that settles that! It should be done!

The Senate has voted to repeal ObamaCare 34 times? Or maybe McConnell is in the House now.

You realize we can talk about things you disagree with and that is still free speech, right? There is no violation of your rights here buddy.

Can you explain why we shouldn't know who is donating to political campaigns? Bonus points for not mentioning unions.
