| timujin I've got a giant case of whogivesafuq... how about instead of a cruise, especially one with one of the most boring bands from Coachella 2012 headlining, you figure out a way to sell tickets to people who are actually going to attend the show instead of to corporate scalpers? |
||
| mitchcumstein1 The line-up will include Pulp, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, Girl Talk, James Murphy (who will be DJ'ing), Sleigh Bells, Simian Mobile Disco and more. I have no idea who any of these people are. |

Brilliant. This should appeal to the trustfund hippies. |

I don't think these bands should count as anything until they're permanent parts of the fabric of music, which most don't have a snowball's chance of ever being. |

James Murphy was the frontman for LCD Soundsystem, which - regardless of what you might think of them - is most definitely part of the permanent fabric. Girl Talk is fun to listen to and, by all accounts, is some of the most fun you can have at a live show. The rest I don't know beyond having heard their names before, but I can't say that I pay the closest attention. |

Yeah, it would have sucked to see the Beatles in '60 or the Stones in '62 or Floyd in '65, back before anyone knew they would be "permanent parts of the fabric of music". And what about the countless really great bands that just never made it? I'm not saying that any of these will be "permanent" and I'll go so far as to say that this lineup is particularly weak and that Pulp is one of the most boring shows I've had the misfortune to see, but having the attitude that you don't want to hear anyone until they're established means you're going to miss out on a lot of good stuff. |

I don't follow music and I know that much. |

I don't disagree, but I'd only potentially go on a cruise (at 750 a room plus 200 dollar ahead service charge) with bands I liked and considered part of the fabric. I'm willing to experiment when I can walk out early and head for my car on dry land. If you're sticking me on a boat with them for a three day weekend and charging that much, I expect the Beatles in their prime. /moot point for me personally since I'm not a cruise guy |

Simian mobile disco is a decent band. Sleigh bells is just noise though. Poor mastering on a studio album doesn't give me hope for a live show. |

you are a puppet: RoyBatty: [i.imgur.com image 815x382] ?? Why didn't any of them get to Coachella? All the ships hit icebergs? Brain fart, sorry, need my meds checked. Should've been (people who go to coachella) (people who go on cruise ships) Just seems to me, based on nothing other than ass pulling speculation, that it's a very small group of people that want to go to both, and perhaps even "destructive of the brand." |

I like a lot of hipster music but that is a pretty unimpressive line-up for a thousand dollar ticket. James Murphy (LCD soundsystem) is great but that's about it IMO |
||
| jdvthejd
Wouldn't mind seeing PJ Harvey, The Black Lips, EL-P. If the others suck you go hit the pool....Its a cruise to the Bahamas. People act like they would be prisoners on this ship. |

I read the rules that they set at Coachella as I was thinking of going (my brother lives in the valley there). If you like going to a concentration camp on vacation, it's definitely your cup of tea. |

I went to Coachella a few years ago. Seeking privacy and cleanliness, I waited until 3:30 a.m. and entered the public shower thinking I might find a bit of privacy. Instead I found horror. Mindless screaming horror. I'm not sure what it was I witnessed... a beast with multiple backs adorned with pasteled bandannas and chin-strapped hats... to this day I look towards the west with a shudder. |
