1) the media has actively been pushing the message that this is a horse race and that the economy is still in the crapper, to make this race about th economy.

2) Large corporations are actively working hard to keep the economy in the crapper by sitting on cash and not hiring.

3) As have Republicans in Congress by not passing anything that might help create jobs, like the jobs bill. Or the highway bill.

As another person said in another thread, if the tax returns show that he claimed deductions on losses that he got from shady credit default swap-esque shiat that helped cause the 2008 economic collapse, then this will be a sight more than a slight distraction.
