Even better, bypass the lack of photos on I09's shiatty site and go directly to the photographer's. |
||
| jimmyego What of the Northern Lights pictures I will photograph later today? |

I've seen Auroras dozens of times. Very beautiful things. |

| Gig103 That guy is awesome and I was going to buy a print of his ... Until I saw the price. $300 is too rich for my blood for a print, even if it is a "limited" print. |

I went to the pic with the lunar rainbow and waterfall, then clicked through to that photographer's site. He also has many awesome prints available at much more reasonable prices. The website's all Frenchy, though. |

Nice but the best Northern Lights I saw were in Northern Minnesota ~10 years ago. At zenith, red, green and blue extending out to the horizons and shimmering. No other Aurora Borealis compared to that night. Oh it was in July as well. |

Meh. I live in Vermont. Saw them. In fact, see them more often than you think. Even in summer. |

The pictures are cool however, the only way to truely experience northern lights are to see them in person. The way they move and glow is breathtaking. Spent two years in Alaska, amazing. |

Be fair to those of us who don't live in places where beautiful spectacles like this aren't common. I live in Las Vegas. We have no weather phenomenons, and no other spectacular displays of natures wonders. Let us ooh and ahh please. |

Be careful what you what you wish for, granted you're city did get to see mushroom clouds a generation ago. |

Not as good as the linked images, but here's my shot from Sunday night in central Montana. We had a band of greenish aurorae across the northern horizon. Not the best I've seen, but consistent and always cool. This is taken from the banks of the Missouri, at one of several dams along the route Lewis and Clark followed upstream on their journey to the Pacific. |

| puffy999 For the record, that part of Oregon is extremely beautiful regardless of the northern lights. There's nothing like camping under the stars 50 miles from the nearest town. |
