| Walker What about Robot baby? or some of the other creepy ones in the sidebar? |
||
| ManateeGag I half expected to see an article about Mitt Romney. |
||
| MaxxLarge Relevant: |

| AngryJailhouseFistfark Are the RealDoll® people integrating this technology into their product? Particularly the disgust and disappointment reactions? |

I just saw a bunch of O faces. |
||
| zixr The "who farted?" face was right on the money. |
||
| ampoliros
Was that Kristin Stewart? She's gotten much more expressive since that last movie. |

It looks like they've cracked the uncanny valley problem. They've moved on to "dead behind the eyes" hooker. Once that's mastered we can get to the real gold which is "Pissed off house wife." Then and only then will we be happy. |

That is not the kind of technology I expect to originate in Italy. Japan, yes, but not Italy. |
||
| LeroyBourne It pleases me to know there will be sex bots in my lifetime. |

| AdamK
creepy? more like hilarious |
||
| Deddude9988
They finally made a robot Angelica Houston? |
||
| Babboonrash
creepy or not... I just hope I live long enough to one day get a hummer from a sexbot like Cherry 2000. The technology is getting closer to achieving reality. |

Kwamee? |
||
| RexTalionis Already a better actress than Kristen Stewart. |
||
| Doodah_man I need ya, Decks. This is a bad one, the worst yet. I need the old blade runner, I need your magic. |

Massa Damnata: [i1170.photobucket.com image 600x338] Wow...reminds me of Patrick Swayze in Too Wong Foo... |

I saw no happiness in that face. I saw something that stared into the abyss and now can only pretend to be human. |

AdamK: creepy? more like hilarious This. "Robot can replicate 6 human emotional expressions" Only if the first 5 of them are "while dropping a deuce" Rick Baker's Creature Shop produced more realistic faces over 20 years ago. |

We're playing way too fast and loose with the term 'robot' these days. Special effects guys have been making fake heads that can change expressions for years, and the only difference here is instead of a guy directly controlling rods going into the head and moving stuff around, a guy controls a computer which controls moving stuff around in the head. And if it's some sort of thing you drive and/or control the arms of by remote control, it's an expensive RC toy. Show me a mechanical construct that's moving around of it's own accord, making evaluations of it's situation and making choices, and I'll call it a robot. |

What do you call those things that assembled most of your car? Android! |

| casual disregard If I could have a robot companion, I would want it to take care of the mundane tasks I'm too lazy to perform, to recite poetry and classics and modern novels and essays I'm too lazy to read, and to otherwise make my fat ass fatter. And update Firefox and Flash Player and Java every other day or so because gosh darnit, somebody has to do it, and I'd rather not. Faking an orgasm, though? Not terribly high on my list of priorities for a robot. |

Hardly the creepiest video of robotic platforms trying to mimic humans I've seen this week, but then again because of some projects I'm on at work I have seen a lot. Still, I hadn't come across this one yet so I'll show my co-workers tomorrow. Thanks subby. |

Good god, the "Imagine-O-Bots" or whatever they call the robots at Disneyland have more expression and lifelike movement than this thing - plus it looks like it was built by high school students. /Fail |

Looks like Demi Moore having a bowel movement. |

"Two Wee-icks" |

| DjangoStonereaver I didn't really see much change in the expression; all of them looked disgusted or scared. |

There's more realism in the animatronics of a Universal Studios ride than that. |

Seems like there are so many of these "real human expressions from a robot" stories, and the robots all look absolutely terrible. Seriously, they look awful. What have you robotics guys been doing for the last 50 years? /porn at work |
||
| dehehn WETA, will you please help these guys out? Scientists are so horrible at this stuff. |
