The inherent human capacity for destruction is mind-boggling.

Can we get Morgan Freeman to say some words to this slideshow so we can attribute it to Ken Burns...?

The music did add something.

Starting at 8:24 it's from the movie Glory. Anybody know what the earlier section is?

The early music is from Randy Edelman's soundtrack to Gettysburg.

all animals fight. they fight because they must. even beautiful and seemingly passive animals like sea anemones, humming birds, and penguins fight. its the reality of life. its just that humans are very very good at it. king of the beasts.

heres one of my favorite nature films. it shows the perpetual wars between lions and hyenas. the hyenas generally do well vs the female lions untill the male lions show up. The male lions pretty much do nothing but kill the shiat out of hyenas and other lions. During the course of the documentary one of the male lions, whos name is "he who walks with fire," kills about 4 successive hyena matriarchs by running the fark up and breaking their backs.

That's an excellent documentery. That being said, the pictures from the video are also pretty great. Some of those photos are so damn good, it almost looks like a photoshop of a re-enactment picture. Can't believe wars used to be fought like that. Pretty scary shiat.

/okay, everybody line up! Aim your guns across that field at nobody in particulaaarrrrr! AAAANNDD!!!! FIRE!

I love how good music makes me think of war in terms poetry, endearment.

When I visited the battleground at Manassas, I wondered how many bones of soldiers and other remnants of war were buried there.

Seeing this, I wonder how many bones of soldiers and other remnants of war are everywhere.
