I really disagree with the praise for X2. Problems I had with the film: The Stryker character is really lame. There is a lot of bad dialogue, especially from Stryker and from Pyro ("You know all those dangerous mutants you hear about in the news? I'm the worst one.") They take the most compelling character, Professor X, and they basically hypnotize him and remove him for half the movie.

I would substitute First Class for X2.

First Class was actually pretty good. My only nit-pick is calling the dragonfly fire-spitting woman Angel.

Be warned - TDKR is *DIFFERENT* from TDK. Tonally different. The first time I saw it, I wasn't really prepared for that so I was a bit ambivalent. Second time around I loved it much more when I took it on its own terms.

You had an amazing story w/Joker and even Harvey Dent. Adding Two-Face to the mix felt like it lessened the previous 2 hours.

Warts and all, I love TDK, but I love TDKR about the same.

There's a tradeoff involved with each one.

For one, I love the Joker and anything he said/did in TDK, but his Rube Goldberg-esque shenanigans DID seem mildly implausible, even for a movie of this sort.

For the other, I love the story and tone of TDKR, but Bane's voice kinda lost me in some scenes.

It's a tradeoff, but I dig 'em a lot.

I think I cried during every scene with Michael Caine. VERY different movie and very well-done. Bane's a good, solid villain and Anne Hathaway's Catwoman is spot-on from the late-80s Frank Miller reboot.

The scene where he goes through the photo album may be the single most touching scene in a film I've seen in the last decade, and I see a lot of movies.

Every time I see Up it moves up a few places on my 'best all time' list. It's now my absolute favorite Pixar film, beating even Finding Nemo and Wall-E.

Here's a question - will Christian Bale get nominated for Best Actor this year? He was really great in this one, but I think he might get a nod for the trilogy as a body of work. He's always sort of under the radar in these movies, but I think he's actually the most impressive of the actors in TDKR (though they are all fantastic, including JGL who gives a great performance of what could be an extremely tiresome character).
