Click 'LIKE' to if you applaud Bob Costas' support of Israel.

Sorry, but taking a moment of silence for victims of a massacre is not necessarily "supporting Israel".

This isn't going to survive to the actual ceremonies, at least as he's stating here. There's no way the IOC is going to let an NBC anchor take a shot at them during the broadcast.

The IOC is a whore. They'll turn over, spread them and ask NBC to give them their best shot as long as NBC still cuts that $1.18 billion check.

Did they have a moment of silence during Barcelona in 1992 during the 20th anniversary? I don't remember, but it is an honest and relevant question.

Not that I remember, but 1992 was the first year an Israeli won an Olympic medal. Two of them were won that year, one each in womens and mens Judo.

Bob, do your usual fine job as host of the Olympics. Then immediately take over the position of baseball commissioner.

Is there any man in the world of sports that is as awesome as Bob Costas?

I mean, his haircut alone puts guys like Derek Jeter to shame.

I wish I was of the generation that had dads that said stuff like that. It seems to be relegated to men who raised children during the mid-80s and earlier. 70s especially.

Maybe he could take over as Hand of the Commissioner?

The Israelis were demanding a minute of silence. They said the usual ceremony held apart from the opening ceremonies was not enough.

If the games were being held in Germany again, I could understand their insistence. As it is, it seems attention-grabbing and not at all necessary.

Maybe it's because the first Palestinian ever to qualify for the games is attending this year?

/does not warrant use of hero tag.

I'll just be happy if they actually show all the countries this time. In Vancouver Uzbekistan had the misfortune to march between the US and Canada and they got shoved off-camera completely. NBC didn't put an Uzbek on camera the entire Games.

And that's after NBC repeats up and down that, for the more minor nations, the Parade of Nations essentially IS their Olympics. They just up and punked the Uzbeks.

NBC's coverage of the Olympics is probably the worst part of the Olympics.

There's an easy answer for this- before 4pm EDT on Friday, look for a moving body of water for the BBC. The Opening Ceremony begins at 4pm EDT (9pm London time) and is set to go 3-3.5 hours, if you go by the London 2012 website. Figure an hour for the artsy stuff, 90 minutes for the parade and the last 30 minutes for formalities and the torch.

Israeli officials have now asked for the courtesy. And they've been turned down by the IOC as well in what can only be described as a maddening, inhumane, insensitive act.

I love this sentence. It's so clumsy. It just lays it all out there.

I used this site in Vancouver to go looking for foreign coverage. I was able to get coverage off of the BBC, CBC (Canada) and CCTV (China). There might have been other channels there covering the Olympics, but those were the three I settled on.

And the victims of the Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta? Apparently Bob Costas doesn't give a fark about them. Wonder why. He's an jerk anyway. Every opening ceremony he spends the entire time crapping all over the smaller nations, or even the larger ones if he can find anything resembling dirt. It's suppose to be a postive wonderful event and he turns it into something that sounds like a kid upset about his parents telling him to get a job.

I'm so glad I have a proxy set up so I can watch the BBC coverage instead of Bob "Emo" Costas. NBC doesn't even really cover the sporting event called the Olympics. They cover the soap opera of the lives of people involved in the Olympics. Sorry, I don't need an hour long special on how someone overcame the adversity of living five miles from a bad neighborhood or a hangnail in third grade. Let their performances speak for themselves instead of this bleeding heart trash targeted at women going through menopause.

The Arab nations insisted that their flags fly full-staff when the other nations lowered theirs at the '72 Games to half-staff.

They were proud.

There was only one Dream Team. This 2012 team is a very good team who should win gold, but they would need to be at full strength to be compared to the Dream Team.

Meh, whatever, people have been calling every other men's team a Dream Team prior to each Olympics. Then they change it to something that rhymes depending on the outcome. In any case, you knew what I meant.
