This. Play til the whistle blows, because every team has a jackass who likes to showboat before the goal line. My coach wanted to physically beat us if we gave up on a play.

I love Don Beebe. Tiny guy that took some of the hardest hits but always got back up. It also helps that he played for the packers for a bit :)

To be fair, if he'd have done that in the NFL, he'd have been in the endzone already. Perhaps he was just accustomed to beginning a TD celebration at approximately the same distance from the goal posts, or had a flashback to his glory days playing HS football in Texas.

His team DID still have the ball at the 1-yard line, so it wasn't that big a deal. As for the ref calling it a TD initially, it did look like the momentum of the hit put him in the end zone, though it was later obvious there was a bit of a slide.
