| Diogenes For some reason? But many Republican leaders, including Cantor, are struggling to move past the charged battles on social issues, and to focus the party's rhetorical energies almost entirely on the economy. Reason: They're losing on those issues. Also accepted: Fire Island |

| what_now Here's the thing, GOP. The gays aren't going to be ok with "Well, we don't support you, but we'll stop hitting you", or "I guess, maybe civil unions are ok", or "Well, I suppose you shouldn't have your children taken from you". The gays and their advocates (meaning, most of America) won't stop until marriage equality is enacted in all 50 states and discrimination is illegal. And we'll all remember who stood in the way. |

| Some 'Splainin' To Do what_now: The gays aren't going to be ok with "Well, we don't support you, but we'll stop hitting you", or "I guess, maybe civil unions are ok", or "Well, I suppose you shouldn't have your children taken from you". The gays and their advocates (meaning, most of America) won't stop until marriage equality is enacted in all 50 states and discrimination is illegal. The ironic thing is if the conservatives had gotten behind the civil unions option, from the beginning, that's where everything would have stalled. Even most of the gay rights advocates would have been fine with that, since they thought that was the only "realistic" option. It's because the right fought this so utterly hard that the proponents eventually decided that marriage was the only option that would ensure their rights, so that's where the debate moved. Trying to bring it back to civil unions is disingenuous and wholly insufficient. |

| MisterTweak Will Governor Bob "Vaginal Probe" McDonald be introducing him? I hope they get Louis Gomert to speak at the fundraiser too. And the Chicken Fu, er, Filet guy. |

| xanadian Now Eric Cantor is preaching love and tolerance??? ![]() /I'll be hiding under my desk |

| coeyagi Tolerance where? Only in his district, right? Oh, wait, I am getting tolerance confused with stimulus money. Carry on. |

Not to mention that if the GOP keeps bashing teh ghey and Mooslims, eventually everyone who isn't an old, rich, white, Christian male is going to realize the party hates them and wants them to die. |

Benevolent Misanthrope: the voting populace has the hindsight of a farking gnat. What kind of prevert votes for farking goats from behind? Benevolent Misanthrope should be put behind bars, and preferably not at the petting zoo! |

On the one hand I'm incredibly cynical about this situational and hollow fakery. On the other hand, though, I think that we should encourage the GOP to abandon their hateful and divisive dogma. |

| Philip Francis Queeg
So he's going to bring the repeal of DOMA to the House for a vote? |
||
| lordaction
Listen, you can't really blame the GOP. Look at what the gays did that infiltrated the Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts. Do you really expect the GOP to be tolerant after they had their kids molested by this bunch? |
||
| HotWingConspiracy
Cantor does have a sloppy party bottom vibe to him. |
||
| IHadMeAVision
If the headline is a gay joke, I only have to assume that Cantor moonlights as an interior designer to the stars. |

It's sort of a "trust, but verify" kinda stance. |

| coeyagi Cantor has a gay friend and a Muslim friend. Who happen to be policy wonks that he met at a bar once in Georgetown. He Facebook friended them not knowing their religious / intercourse preferences. Your argument is invalid. |

| Aarontology In the Northern Virginia and state's southeastern region, "its all about defense. It is all about the jobs that are created by defense spending. And this looming sequester that the president just seems to want to ignore will cause massive layoffs," Cantor said. The one you helped negotiate you disingenuous douchebag? |

Her partner just sighs and continues to vote for the people that don't want to have her relegated to second class citizenship. |

Basically after they tried to marry and her right winger dad used all the "You can have all the legal rights without being married" BS with her she finally realized that they were the party actually infringing her rights |

Were, I unnoticed. The gay community is pretty conservative politically. If the GoP can at least get to the point where they don't treat gays as subhuman they can probably take a solid bite out of that voting block. |

From Mitt Romney's website: Marriage is more than a personally rewarding social custom. It is also critical for the well-being of a civilization. That is why it is so important to preserve traditional marriage - the joining together of one man and one woman. As president, Mitt will not only appoint an Attorney General who will defend the Defense of Marriage Act - a bipartisan law passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton - but he will also champion a Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman. That sounds like reason to me. |
