I really hope that Romney takes this particular attack/lie into the debates with him.

I don't know about you, but the day where corporations take over everything including law enforcement, transport, sanitation, health, etc is the day I don't want to live.

Corporations exist to make a profit for their executives and shareholders. That's it.

Do I think making televisions or cosmetic surgery should be the province of the government? Of course not, that's every bit as stupid as people who think corporations should be in charge of fighting fires or national security.

Happy medium, people, society isn't black and white where all we have is socialism or capitalism.

Bristol Palin, a person who the only reason anyone knows anything about is because of who her mother is, is going to lecture us all on how hard work begets success?

She has literally "built" nothing in her entire life and owes everything she has to the efforts of others.

I just want to go on record as saying that I absolutely love the fact that an unwed, single teen mom who "took a few business classes at community college" has been using her blog to lecture an accomplished constitutional law scholar, civil rights attorney and sitting president on moral, family and economic issues.

This is why the rest of the world thinks Americans are so stupid.

Listen, this girl has great advice on how you should model your economic and moral policies. She can't prevent a guy from ejaculating inside of her with widely available and encouraged (by the government, hisss) birth control, but you should totally listen to and follow what she says about everything because she believes in jesusguy.

/Now I'm not saying she's dumb; but holy fark is she dumb.

I'm guessing there isn't even a hint of irony that they are on public roads, with public water, getting public fire safety, and well regulated insurance should something bad happen to their business.

There was not one business in that video that did not rely on some from of service that the government puts out there. Trucking, heavy equipment, tire services, etc, etc. If Meals on Wheels take a sammich to a starving poor, that's socialism. If Big Mac's trucking service carries a load from Texas to California, he did that!!!!

" If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn't get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."

It's a deceptively small part of what he said.

"There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me -- because they want to give something back. They know they didn't -- look, if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn't get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

"The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don't do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.

"So we say to ourselves, ever since the founding of this country, you know what, there are some things we do better together. That's how we funded the G.I. Bill. That's how we created the middle class. That's how we built the Golden Gate Bridge or the Hoover Dam. That's how we invented the Internet. That's how we sent a man to the moon. We rise or fall together as one nation and as one people, and that's the reason I'm running for President -- because I still believe in that idea. You're not on your own, we're in this together."

So is there any room to acknowledge that even though everyone has the advantages of government, not everyone is successful?

Maybe, just maybe now, there might be some sort of personal responsibility, work effort, and ability involved in creating a successful business. Is it really so hard to understand and acknowledge that both government and personal effort and sacrifice contribute to success?

/I guess so...one side seems to think government has nothing to do with success
//the other seems to think we aren't grateful enough for the right to drive on roads and attend schools we paid for

I gotta take issue with that - The Dems are trying to point out to the anti-tax crusaders that people really do get good things from their government when they pay in taxes, and if they stop paying taxes, those things go away. Republicans used to understand this - look at Eisenhower and all he accomplished post WWII, once the Greatest Generation had their government-paid college education and government-paid health care.

Modern Democrats aren't arguing necessarily for more government spending (though IMHO, they should be) - they're trying to keep the TeaTards from taking what we have away.

No the problem is that they think govt only gets in the way of "society" and the free market would do all those things without the govt.
