Yea it's just not going to be a good(the right) thing in the long run.
It's a "you have to take the good with the bad" kind of situation.

People understand when someone over seas in an oppressive political situation needs to be anonymous, just so they can speak their minds against the oppressive regime(a freedom many of us have come to take for granted).

We then seem to forget this is the same thing that lets fools be fools on the internet, in youtube comments and such.

Can't have one without the other.
And freedom is far harder to get than to lose.

Haters gonna hate, so stop trying to stop them. Just learn to ignore and marginalize fools, while accepting that that is one of the ongoing costs of your freedom.

Rumor has it that local papers requiring a Facebook profile to log in have seen a decrease in contentiousness and trolling.

The more removed you get from local events though, the more anonymous you become, even when your real name is attached.
