| Arizona GOP state senator says that if there had been a REAL man in the movie theater that night, James Holmes wouldn't have killed/injured so many people. No, really - he said that |

what_now ![]() This is Russell Pearce and J. T. Ready. The two of them worked together to craft the "Paper's Please" legislation that was just dismantled by the US Supreme Court. Here's another picture of J. T. Ready: ![]() Again, Russell Pearce, State Senator from AZ, used this man to help craft legislation. |

| Weaver95 Arizona sounds like one of the most f*cked up places to live in this country. |
||
| Weaver95 uh-oh. greenlit. |
||
| Nadie_AZ Russell motherf*cking Pearce. Only that racist bigoted asshole would say something so callous. You'll notice that MESA threw him out on his ass. MESA- home of the Arizona Mormon enclave. The ACLU recently secured his emails while he was on office, pushing SB1070. His primary motivation? Go on, guess. Pearce is a bully and a coward. If he were in that theater, he'd have shiat his pants and hit the floor and hoped he was invisible. |
||
| MaudlinMutantMollusk What a Pearce of sh*t /be proud, Arizona |
||
| kronicfeld Remember, gun fetishists: shooting a heavily-armed and armored target concealed in a cloud of tear gas in a dark theater full of people screaming and scrambling is exactly the same as standing in an empty parking lot in the middle of the day shooting inanimate bottles off a dumpster. |
||
| violentsalvation what_now: The two of them worked together to craft the "Paper's Please" legislation I'm not sure that's true, and I'm not trying to defend Pearce here, the recalled former senator is an asshole. Source? |
||
| Benevolent Misanthrope Weaver95: I'm running down to the Kwik-E-Mart for some popcorn, weenies and s'mores makings. And beer. And a lawn chair. Anyone need anything? |
||
| eurotrader If there was just a few courageous/brave men and woman serving the people and the country in congress and Whitehouse and not just their personal and parties interests there would not have been the shooting in the first place because the mentally ill would be cared for and not limited to becoming a former state senator. |
||
| Nadie_AZ MaudlinMutantMollusk: What a Pearce of sh*t /be proud, Arizona He's out of office. And Mesa doesn't seem to want him back in. In March, Russell Pearce, author and chief defender of SB 1070, announced he would seek the senate again, in the newly drawn District 25 in Mesa. That announcement was probably the last good day Pearce has had. About the same time, multi-millionaire Bob Worsley entered the GOP primary-a successful businessman who created SkyMall, those airplane magazines that sell all kinds of cool shiat you seldom need. Soon, nearly every Mesa city council member, and the mayor, endorsed Worsley. Like many in the state, they're tired of Pearce's diarrhetic mouth hole, and would prefer he just crawl back under his rock. |

| Mr. Coffee Nerves One would hope that tonight, while Mr. Pearce is watching TV someone would set up a webcam, toss a tear gas grenade through the window, then start firing away (using blanks) into Mr. Pearce's house so we could all watch his reaction and learn how a real man reacts. Why do I think that, rather than sweet ninja moves to disarm the shooter punctuated by a cool action hero tagline, Mr. Pearce would create an instantaneous barricade of his own rapidly-accumulating feces to cower behind while shrieking "my family's in the other room! Them first! THEM FIRST!" |

Source? You know what, you're right. I was confusing J.T Ready with This guy. J.T. Ready is the neo nazi who killed his girlfriend and a few other people, and then offed himself, he DID NOT work on the AZ SB1070. My bad. |

| Earguy OK, big man, I'm going to toss a tear gas bomb in your office, and we'll go from there. A tiny capsule of CS gas will make you clamp your eyes shut, cough, spit, and hork uncontrollably, and that small amount won't even be visible. Ask anyone who's been in Army training about the tear gas tent. The bomb that the shooter tossed made the room foggy with the gas. Don't give me that crap you're spreading. |
||
| Jackson Herring Even without the tear gas, most people can't even find their own farkin SEAT in a dark movie theater. |
||
| Marcus Aurelius What an incredible asshole. |

| DjangoStonereaver Huh. Who knew Internet Tough Guystm could be State Senators? The fact that people do not generally need to walk around carrying weapons in most areas of the country should be celebrated, not decried. |

Given that at least three of the people killed were active duty or reserve armed forces, the question must be asked: Why does former state senator and nazi-sympathizer Russell Pearce hate the troops? |
||
| Azlefty Weaver95: Arizona sounds like one of the most f*cked up places to live in this country. Actually it isn't it is just that their are some spectacular f*ckheads Like Pearce and Arpiao and a dedicated electorate that votes for them Cause they hate Messicans. |

Yeah, because anyone can overcome incredible pain, inability to open one's eyes and immediate evacuation of sinuses to rush through a crowd of screaming, terrified civilians in cramped quarters to stop one guy in black clothes that they probably can't see - all while in a dark theatre. Oh yeah, and the guy is armed with a semi-automatic rifle. /been hit with tear gas //could barely even open my eyes for two minutes after I was out of the chamber. |

| Because People in power are Stupid This is the ongoing narrative of pro-guns. Originally, the founding fathers intended for the Second Amendment to be some sort of check against threats of government oppression. This narrative of "everyone being armed" as some sort of economy against crime is rather new and rather derpy. Of course, I love my 10/22 but probably won't be bringing it to any armed rebellions or movie theaters... so there's that. |

Now, tell me more about how some dude in a crowded theater munching on popcorn is a better shot than the USSS. |

I posted this verbatim on the Facebook of one of my "friends" who insisted that if people who were carrying were in that theater that fewer people would have died. "You're absolutely kidding yourself if you think somebody packing a handgun could have taken out the shooter. His assault was tactically as close to flawless as is humanly possible. He tossed out tear gas canisters to obscure people's vision in the theater. He positioned himself at the very front of the theater to prevent people from flanking him from the back and to have the still-running projector distract from the muzzle flash. He was outfitted in a gas mask to prevent the tear gas from hurting himself, and his full- body military-grade kevlar body armor and ballistic helmet would almost certainly stop 9mm rounds from on-target rounds actually reaching skin. He was carrying an AR-15, an assault rifle, which would automatically put anyone using a handgun against him at a disadvantage even disregarding all the other tactics I've already mentioned. And if you fired at him from where you were sitting, odds are you would actually hit an innocent bystander and contribute to the chaos and the deaths. After talking with one of my friends who has extensive experience with guns from the military and who has a CCH, we agreed that basically your only chance to take him out would be to shoot him in the armpit so as to disable one arm and reduce to his handgun as well, but even that would be suicidal since you'd have to close in on him to make that shot reasonable with the environment, and that would almost certainly have exposed you to gunfire resulting in your inevitable death." Stunningly, even though it's been more than a day since I made that comment, he nor any of his pro-gun friends have challenged it. |

To the gun owner/future spree killer, the only way to address this situation is having everyone is armed at all times. |

What the fark is wrong with people like him and Gohmert? Simple stupidity doesn't explain it. |
||
| sprawl15
That he was wearing body armor doesn't discount this brave senator's argument. In fact, it strengthens it. If people are going to wear body armor, then the citizenry needs more firepower to counter. Anti-materiel rifles or smaller grade explosives are exactly what's needed to take down an assailant like this, yet Cinemark refuses to allow them into the theater. What is this, Communist China? |

| coeyagi Aurora Theater != Flight 93, you chicken-brained goat f*cker. For one, the passengers of Flight 93 had more than a few seconds to react. Second, WHAR tear gar WHAR on flight 93? Seriously, I don't usually advocate violence, but when I do, it's usually towards Republican officials from Arizona (current or former). |

| Headso
Most of the republican political platform is based on spite and mean spiritedness so naturally hateful people would be attracted to that party. |
